Race Meeting Stewards’ Report

Officials: Dr D. Viero (Veterinarian), A. Boyd (Judge), J. Hartwick (Starter), M. Braunberger (Samples), J. Bouffler (Lure)
General: Stewards inspected the track after Race 1 and deemed the track safe to continue racing. After further heavy and persistent rain, Stewards along with the club track curator reinspected the track after the running of Race 2. Upon inspection of the track, several parts of the infield had begun to flood onto the back straight of the racing surface which caused a wash out of sand in several sections. The heavy rain also resulted in flooding of certain parts of the complex and track and as a result Stewards abandoned Races 3-12 for the safety of all participants and animals.
Race 1 - ROBERT OLSEN HEAT 1 MAIDEN 380m
1 Eris Lucy – Very slow to begin. Checked off the heels of another runner approaching the home turn and lost ground.
2 Zafar Bale – Dragged down by another runner approaching the first turn and was checked losing ground.
3 Ritza Benny – Checked off the heels of another runner shortly after the start and lost ground.
4 Wishy Washy – Dragged down by another runner approaching the home turn and was severely checked losing considerable ground. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination that revealed no apparent abnormalities.
8 Jingalong Lotte – Improved onto the heels of another runner approaching the home turn and was checked losing ground.
9 Boots On (6) – Improved onto the heels of another runner approaching the first turn and was checked losing ground.
Race 2 - ROBERT OLSEN HEAT 2 MAIDEN 380m
1 Ritza Pete – Slow to begin. Tightened for racing room approaching the first turn and was checked losing ground.
3 Skedaddle Tommy – Checked off the heels of another runner approaching the first turn and lost ground.
5 Chinotto Girl – Raced wide rounding the first turn. Raced wide rounding the home turn and throughout the remainder of the race.
7 Mercurial Dancer – Slow to begin.
8 Starlight Spice – Very slow to begin.
