General: Stewards kept the kennels open for approximately 10 minutes after the scheduled kennel time closure due to the Bruce Highway being closed South of Townsville because of a major road accident that affected the travel times for trainers Heath Ardle, Tony Parker and Harold Hovi.

Stewards acting under the provisions of Gar156(f)(ii) reprimanded trainer Mr John La Rosa for negligence after his greyhound he was moving from the kennel block to his trailer slipped the lead and broke free galloping to the other side of the complex before being recaptured.

2 Nyngan Tiger – Severely checked and fell rounding the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 3 - HUNNY POT NQ NOVICE 380m

3 Bilinga Beach – Checked and contacted the rail approaching the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

3 Flash Fever – Severely checked rounding the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 7 - TOWNSVILLE WILDCARD HEAT 1 OPEN 498m

8 Paulie Walnuts – Performed below market expectations. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Tony Parker regarding the performance of Paulie Walnuts. Mr Parker stated he was disappointed in the performance of his runner tonight and expected a much better showing. Mr Parker stated that the greyhound had trialled well after coming back from a significant wrist injury. Mr Parker will report back any abnormalities to Stewards in the upcoming days and give consideration to whether Paulie Walnuts proceeds with his plans towards the Townsville Cup. Stewards noted Mr Parker’s comments.

Race 8 - TOWNSVILLE WILDCARD HEAT 2 OPEN 498m

Race 9 - MAGIC CARPET CLEANING GRADE 5 498m

5 Deck Franky – Finished the race tailed off in last place. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the nearside front foot and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down for 10 days.

Race 10 - TAB MIXED 3/4 380m

7 Red Buzz – Eased for several strides approaching the finishing line. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Bradley Belford regarding the greyhound’s racing manners. After considering all available evidence, Stewards invoked GAR 124 Failing to Pursue (1^st offence) – 28 days stand down at Townsville and must complete a satisfactory steward’s trial prior to racing next.

Race 11 - SHOWTIME LODGE @ CHURCHABLE MIXED 4/5 380m

3 Mary Now Knows – Checked rounding the first turn. Checked approaching the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
