General: Stewards concluded an inquiry into an alleged incident between trainers Miss Hayley Wooler and Ms Greta Thomson on Friday 15th September at the Townsville Greyhound Club. After hearing both trainer’s submissions and considering all evidence taken from named witnesses, Stewards deemed that there was insufficient evidence to take the matter any further.

Race 2 - SKIPS TRANSPORT NOVICE (1) 380m

Race 3 - HUNNY POT NQ NOVICE (2) 380m

 

2 Panama Lad – Checked shortly after the start and lost considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

Race 4 - # JCOOL AIR CONDITIONING GRADE 5 (1) 380m

Race 5 - TOWNSVILLE FUTURITY HEAT 1 OPEN 498m

 

8 Plum Tuckered – (Beaten favourite) Bumped heavily by another runner rounding the first turn and was checked losing forward momentum.

 

Race 6 - TOWNSVILLE FUTURITY HEAT 2 OPEN 498m

Race 7 - GREYHOUNDS MAKE GREAT PETS MIXED 4/5 498m

Race 8 - TOWNSVILLE DERBY FINAL OPEN 498m

 

6 Jimmy Roo – (Beaten favourite) Marginally weakened in the concluding stages of the race to finish second. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.  Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Heath Ardle after the race. Mr Ardle stated that Jimmy Roo was having his first attempt at the 498m and was happy with his run overall especially his race time. Mr Ardle also stated that he intends to start Jimmy Roo over 498m at his next start. Stewards noted the explanation.

 

Race 9 - BURDEKIN VET SERVICE BEST 8 380m

Race 10 - HICKORY INDUSTRIES GRADE 4 380m

Race 11 – TAB MIXED 4/5 380m

 

3 Daicos Dynasty – Marginally slow to begin. Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the nearside hip support and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down for 10 days.

 

Race 12 - MAGIC CARPET CLEANING GRADE 5 (2) 380m

 

8 Federal Gold – (Beaten favourite) Bumped several times shortly after the start. Clipped on the heels by another runner rounding the first turn.
