General: The track was harrowed to a depth of 50mm yesterday. As a result, race times may be slower than normal.

4 Pop’s Lazy Fifty – Slow to begin. Contacted the inside running rail when rounding the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
5 Federal Duke – (Beaten favourite) Checked off heels approaching the first turn. |

5 Going To Town – Very slow to begin, missing the start by six lengths. Turned its head inwards towards another runner for several strides in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Michael Hickmott regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. After reviewing all available footage, Stewards invoked GAR124 Failing to Pursue (1st offence) and subsequently Going To Town was stood down from racing for 28 days at Townsville plus the completion of a satisfactory trial. |

7 Chasing Tomorrow – Inconvenienced by the fallen runner rounding the first turn and lost considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
8 Mali’s Whitey – Severely checked and fell rounding the first turn, failing to complete the course. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an offside shoulder injury and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down from racing for 60 days and must complete a satisfactory steward’s trial prior to racing next. This matter will be referred to the Greyhound Injury Review Panel. |
