Race Meeting Stewards’ Report

General: Following the running of Race 1, the catching pen gate was unable to be closed due to the proximity of the lure and the position of the leading greyhounds from the catching pen gate. As a result, all greyhounds pulled up post-race in the back straight. Following this incident, testing of the catching pen gate and the lure were conducted to ensure that both were functioning correctly.

 

Stewards walked the track after the running of Race 10 and deemed the surface safe to continue racing.

 

Race 1 - NQ GAME MEATS 5TH GRADE HEAT 1 GRADE 5 498m

 

1 Two Wives – Contacted the catching pen gate after the race had concluded. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the head and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down for 7 days.

 

5 Wild William – Contacted the running rail after the race had concluded after escaping the catching pen gate. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near foreleg and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down for 10 days.

 

6 Come On Darcy – (Beaten favourite) Weakened in the concluding stages of the race to finish a close third placing.

 

Race 2 - SIMLEC ELECTRICAL 5TH GRADE HEAT 2 GRADE 5 498m

 

5 Stormy Rose – (Beaten favourite) Marginally slow to begin. Checked off heels rounding the first turn. Checked off heels rounding the home turn and lost ground.

 

Race 3 - PUG WASH PAINTING 5TH GRADE HEAT 3 GRADE 5 498m

 

No matters of concern to Stewards.

 

Race 4 - ALL RUMOUR KENNELS 5TH GRADE HEAT 4 GRADE 5 498m

 

6 Jimmy Joseph – Severely checked rounding the first turn losing considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

Race 5 – TGBOATA FFA 498m

 

5 Bag The Cash – Underwent post-race veterinary examination at the request of the trainer that revealed an injury to the chest muscle and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down for 10 days.

 

Race 6 - LOUISE PARTLAND PHOTOGRAPHY MIXED 3/4 380m

 

No matters of concern to Stewards.

 

Race 7 - B & M DRILLING MIXED 2/3 380m

 

3 Cuban Eight – Severely checked rounding the first turn and lost considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

7 Canya Currency – Severely checked rounding the first turn and lost considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

Race 8 - LOUNDS FRESH SEAFOOD BEST 8 380m

 

1 Showtime Isaac – Dragged down rounding the first turn by another runner and lost considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

Race 9 - BURDEKIN VET SERVICES GRADE 4 380m

 

1 Like A Lorry – Severely checked rounding the first turn and lost considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

7 Moustache Mick – Severely checked rounding the first turn and lost considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

Race 10 - CLEVELAND BAY SEAFOODSMIXED 4/5 380m

 

3 Farmor Too Many – Faltered in its action when leading rounding the first turn and lost ground sharply, failing to complete the course. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a nearside hip joint injury and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down from racing for 28 days and must complete a satisfactory steward’s trial prior to racing next.

 

Race 11 - KB SEAFOOD COMPANY GRADE 5 (1) 380m

Race 12 - CORAL COAST SEAFOODS GRADE 5 (2) 380m
