Race 2 - B & M DRILLING GRADE 5 (2) 498m

 

3. Weeona Smiley – Leaving the back straight was tightened and checked. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

No racing incidents of concerns.                                                                                                            

 

 

 

Race 4 - TOWNSVILLE YOUNG GUNS HEAT 1 OPEN 380m

 

3. Jungle King – Approaching the first turn was checked. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

 

 

Race 5 -TOWNSVILLE YOUNG GUNS HEAT 2 OPEN 380m

Race 6 - TOWNSVILLE YOUNG GUNS HEAT 3 OPEN 380m

 

1. Good Odds Digger – Beaten $1.15 favourite, slow to begin, into the first turn was severely checked, rounding the home turn was checked.

 

 

 

Race 7 - TOWNSVILLE YOUNG GUNS HEAT 4 OPEN 380m

 

2. No Billy Tea – Shortly after the start turned its head in abruptly taking its attention away from the lure. Through the back turn collided with another runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to its offside hind foot and was stood down from racing for 5 days. Steward’s spoke to trainer H Wooler regarding the greyhound’s racing actions. After considering all available evidence, Stewards invoked GAR 125 Fail to pursue by reason of injury. The greyhound must successfully complete a steward’s trial prior to racing next once the 5 day stand down period has expired.

 

3. Showtime Piper – Through the first turn was severely checked falling as a result. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

 

 

Race 8 - LOUNDS FRESH SEAFOOD BEST 8 380m

 

4. Jimmy Roo – Beaten $1.2 favourite, slow to begin, into the first turn was checked making heavy contact with the running rail. Inconvenienced rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

 

 

Race 9 - TOWNSVILLE YOUNG GUNS HEAT 5 OPEN 380m

 

No racing incidents of concerns.

 

 

 

Race 10 - TOWNSVILLE YOUNG GUNS HEAT 6 OPEN 380m

 

2. Showtime Brad - Late scratching at 9.22pm on the advice of the On–Track Veterinarian (GAR 92(2) due to illness. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.

 

5. Awesome Oscar – Approaching the first turn eased considerably losing ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards spoke to trainer R Essery regarding the greyhound’s actions at that stage of the event, after reviewing the video replay and the hearing the trainers submissions , stewards deemed Awesome Oscar did ease therefore invoked GAR 124 Failing to Pursue. As this was the greyhound’s 1st offence under this rule Awesome Oscar was suspended from racing at Townsville for 28 days and until the successful completion of a satisfactory steward’s trial.
