Race 1 - CORAL COAST SEAFOODS GRADE 4 (1) 380m

Race 2 - NQ GAME MEATS GRADE 4 (2) 380m

 

1 Yellow Car – Checked off heels approaching the first turn and lost considerable ground. Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

Race 3 - KB SEAFOOD COMPANY GRADE 4 (3) 380m

 

6 Gene’s Boy – Stewards spoke to trainer Ms Rhonda Essery regarding Gene’s Boy’s seemingly improved performance. Ms Essery stated that she has been doing a lot of fitness work at her kennels with her greyhounds including using the straight track multiple times a week to improve the greyhound’s fitness between race starts. Ms R Essery further stated that she expected a forward showing tonight despite the greyhounds starting price. Stewards noted the explanation.

 

Race 4 - SIMLEC ELECTRICAL GRADE 5 498m

 

1 Co Pilot – Dragged down by another runner rounding the first turn and lost considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

Race 5 - CLEVELAND BAY SEAFOODS MIXED 4/5 498m

 

No matters of concern to Stewards.

 

Race 6 - TOWNSVILLE GRAND PRIX HEAT 1 OPEN 498m

 

4 Jimmo Roo – (Beaten favourite) Tired in the concluding stages of the race to be beaten a length in second place.

 

Race 7 - TOWNSVILLE GRAND PRIX HEAT 2 OPEN 498m

 

8 Etta – Faltered in its action shortly after entering the back straight taking no further competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the offside hock and under the provisions of GAR41(1) the greyhound has been stood down for 60 days and must complete a satisfactory steward’s trial prior to racing next. This matter will be referred to the Greyhound Injury Review Panel.

 

Race 8 - TOWNSVILLE GRAND PRIX HEAT 3 OPEN 498m

 

1 Good Odds Digger – (Beaten favourite) Slow to begin. Held up for clear racing room rounding the first turn.

 

8 Currie Young Boy – Faltered in its action shortly after entering the back straight taking no further competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the offside hip and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down for 10 days.
