Race 1 – TAB MAIDEN (1) 380m

 

No matters of concern to Stewards.

 

Race 2 - INGHAM ROAD SEAFOODS MAIDEN (2) 380m

 

1 Herbie Jenkins – (Beaten favourite) Slow to begin. Ran second beaten 3 and 1/2 lengths.

 

Race 3 - GREYHOUNDS MAKE GREAT PETS MAIDEN FINAL MAIDEN 380m

 

3 Blue Elanor – Checked off heels rounding the first turn. Dragged down by another runner rounding the home turn losing considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

7 Currajong Girl – Slow to begin. Checked off heels rounding the first turn. Severely checked rounding the home turn losing considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

Race 4 - LOUNDS FRESH SEAFOOD NOVICE (1) 380m

 

No matters of concern to Stewards.

 

Race 5 - B & M DRILLING NOVICE (2) 380m

 

3 No Billy Tea – Turned its head inwards and shifted towards the rail shortly after the start. Severely checked rounding the first turn failing to complete the course. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an offside foreleg injury and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down from racing for 90 days and must complete a satisfactory steward’s trial prior to racing next. Trainer Miss Hayley Wooler advised Stewards that the greyhound will be retired after today’s race. This matter will be referred to the Greyhound Injury Review Panel.

 

6 Mr. Dubai – Took several awkward strides and raced wide rounding the home turn. Shifted inwards and shortened stride in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed injuries to the nearside hip support and offside wrist and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down from racing for 10 days. Stewards spoke to kennel representative Mr Paul Smith regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. After reviewing the video footage, hearing submissions from Mr Smith and considering the veterinary report, Stewards elected to take no further action apart from the 10 days injury stand down given by the on-course veterinarian.

 

Race 6 - CAIRNS GREYHOUND OWNERS & TRAINERS PATHWAYS HEAT 1 5PW 380m

 

3 Spin The Track – Faltered in its action in the home straight when appeared to have sustained an injury, failing to complete the course. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an offside hamstring muscle tear and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down from racing for 10 days.

 

7 Aston Cash – Checked off heels approaching the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the nearside front toe and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down from racing for 3 days.

 

Race 7 - INGHAM ROAD SEAFOODS PATHWAYS HEAT 2 5PW 380m

 

7 Federal Gold – Checked and fell rounding the home turn taking no further competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the nearside shoulder and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down for 10 days.

 

Race 8 - TGBOTA 5TH GRADE FINAL GRADE 5 380m

 

No matters of concern to Stewards.

 

Race 9 - BURDEKIN VET SERVICES PATHWAYS HEAT 3 5PW 380m

 

8 Panama Lad – Slow to begin. Checked off heels rounding the first turn and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed split webbing to the offside front foot and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down for 10 days.

 

Race 10 - LOUISE PARTLAND PHOTOGRAPHY PATHWAYS HEAT 4 5PW 380m

 

6 Apache Malt – Late scratching at 2:05pm on the advice of the on–course veterinarian (GAR 92(2) due to an illness. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

 

7 Luxuriate – Turned its head outwards towards the runner on its outside and visibly eased in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Scott Atkinson regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. After reviewing the video footage, hearing submissions from Mr Atkinson, Stewards invoked GAR124(1) Failing to Pursue (1st offence) and stood down Luxuriate down for 28 days at Townsville plus the completion of a satisfactory trial.

 

Race 11 - PREH WE WIN KENNELS PATHWAYS HEAT 5 5PW 380m

 

2 Helsinki Rico – Late scratching on 11/07 when trainer Mr Glen Olsen reported the greyhound to have injury to the nearside shoulder GAR 76(2). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 76(5) before any future nomination will be accepted.

 

Race 12 - ALL RUMOUR KENNELS PATHWAYS HEAT 6 5PW 380m
