2 Bar One Smokers – Stewards inquired into the seemingly improved performance today. Trainer Ms Bobbie-Jean Chaffey stated that the greyhound has been jumping much better in recent starts and as a result expected a forward position in the race. Ms Chaffey stated that the greyhound’s training and feed regimes have remained unchanged since his previous race start. Stewards and Ms Chaffey agreed that shortly after Bar One Smokers took the lead leaving the turn off the back straight, several runners were checked allowing the greyhound to gain a race winning lead. Ms Chaffey further stated that she didn’t support her runner in betting. Stewards noted the trainer’s comments.
5 Sergeant Green – Checked off heels shortly after the start. Took several awkward strides and raced wide in the back straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the nearside shoulder and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down for 7 days. |

3 Danger Zone – Lead the field by a significant margin approaching the home turn before shortening stride and easing in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the nearside whip muscle and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down for 10 days. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Travis Elson regarding the racing actions of Danger Zone in the home straight. After reviewing the race footage, hearing Mr Elson’s submissions and considering the veterinary findings, Stewards invoked GAR125 (Failing to Pursue with Injury) and stood down Danger Zone for 10 days at all tracks plus the completion of a satisfactory trial.
7 Heffernan Bale – Severely checked leaving the first turn and lost considerable ground finishing tailed off from the field. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the offside hip support and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down for 10 days. |
