General: In regards to an incident on Tuesday 14/01/2024 at the Townsville Greyhound Racing Club, Mr. M. Hickmott was issued with a fine of $500 under GAR156(z). Acting under the provisions of GAR174(3) Stewards elected to wholly suspend the fine for a period of 12 months, conditional upon no further breach of this rule. |

|
7 Hara’s Tilly – Bumped with another runner in the back straight and eased and pulled up, returning towards the starting boxes. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Steward’s spoke to trainer Ms Hayley Wooler regarding the greyhound’s racing manners. After considering all available evidence, Stewards invoked GAR 124 Fail to pursue (1st offence) – 28 days stand down at Townsville and must complete a satisfactory steward’s trial prior to racing next.

3 Hara’s Zorro – Made contact with the rail rounding the first turn and then was checked by another runner and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the left hip, under the provisions of GAR41(1) the greyhound was stood down for 10 days.

3 Shirl’s Memory – When questioned regarding the greyhounds’ actions over the final stages of the event, Trainer Ms. H. Wooler stated that her runner had been bumped and forced marginally wider by another runner in the home straight for several strides before both runners shifting inwards to rail over the final 30m. Stewards noted the explanation.
7 Frank The Tank – Late scratching at 8:51am pursuant to GAR 76(2) due to car breakdown. No stand down was issued upon receiving confirmation of the mechanical breakdown.

Race 8 - SCOTT DUFFY RACING 5TH GRADE FINAL GRADE 5 380m |

4 Tangelo Tornado – Eased in the home straight and turned its head outwards towards another runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the left elbow, under the provisions of GAR41(1) the greyhound was stood down for 5 days. Steward’s spoke to trainer Mr. T. Parker regarding the greyhound’s racing manners. After considering all available evidence, Stewards invoked GAR 125 Fail to pursue by reason of injury – 5 days stand down at Townsville and must complete a satisfactory steward’s trial prior to racing next.

Race 9 - CLEVELAND BAY SEAFOOD PATHWAYS HEAT 2 5PW 380m |

6 She’s Winning – Put in an awkward stride rounding the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. When asked to comment on the greyhound’s performance today Trainer Ms. H. Wooler stated that she was pleased with the performance as a first run back since December 13 2024 agreeing with Stewards that the greyhound put in an awkward stride rounding the first turn, and further stating she believed the greyhound to tire late in the event and finish 2nd place as a result.

The photo finish computer failed to capture the finish, the placings were determined by the Judge using available means and confirmed by Stewards before issuing the all clear. |

Race 11 – OCEAN WORLD SEAFOOD PATHWAYS HEAT 4 5PW 380m |
|
Prior to the running of this race, club staff reported that the lure malfunctioned. To allow repairs to be conducted, Stewards pushed back the remaining races 1 time slot with race 12 to start at 4:16pm. After repairs were conducted the lure was tested and found to be operating satisfactorily.
