GENERAL
 
Due to riders T Brummell, A Bakos-Schrapel and R Faehr being unable to fulfill their riding engagements after the running of race one, the following runners were declared late scratchings at 2:45pm due to no riders being available.
Race 2: FREDIE EDDIE, VILA TINTO, VALIANT JOAN

Race 4: DAULAT MACHTIGKUDA, DISRUPT, LASTING PROMISE

Race 1:Z & V CONTRACTING / JEFF DOLGNER MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
 
COOL MAN SHOW - Leaving the 500m, was inconvenienced and shifted wider to avoid a fallen horse and rider.
 
IMPENDING RAIN - Leaving the 500m, was severely inconvenienced and blundered by the fallen horse and rider, resulting in Jockey R. Faehr becoming severely unbalanced and losing the use of his irons and his saddle slipping before being dislodged shortly after the finish line. Shortly after, R Faehr was experiencing significant pain to his right thumb and transported himself to Longreach hospital for further assessment. R Faehr was advised a medical clearance would be required prior to riding again. A post-race veterinary examination performed on IMPENDING RAIN revealed no obvious abnormalities.
 
KIPSAMO – Leaving the 500m was inconvenienced and lost ground by fallen horse and rider.
 
MISHANI OUTLAW – Approaching the 500m was severely inconvenienced by the fallen horse and rider, resulting in jockey A Bako-Schrapel becoming unbalanced and being dislodged. QAS officers cleared Ms Bakos-Schrapel of any concussion symptoms and she was transported to hospital for further assessment. Ms Bakos-Schrapel was advised a medical clearance would be required prior to riding again. A post-race veterinary examination performed on MISHANI OUTLAW revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
HOME CREEK – Approaching the 500m fell, dislodging jockey T Brummell. Jockey Brummell was transported to hospital for further assessment and was advised he will require a medical clearance including a cognitive assessment and the required 12-day stand down period as per QRIC Concussion protocol prior to riding again.
 
Stewards intend to inquire into the circumstances which resulted in the fall of HOME CREEK to a time and date yet be fixed to allow evidence to be taken from all riders involved.
 
Stewards also intend to investigate the circumstances where HOME CREEK had suffered a bleeding attack from both nostrils during the run and subsequently found to be deceased in a yard in close proximity to the racecourse sometime later. Trainer Henry Forster and attending veterinary officer, Dr David McKenzie will be questioned regarding the post-race treatment, care and circumstances which resulted in the removal of HOME CREEK from the racecourse. Postmortem samples were collected from HOME CREEK.

Due to the delay resulting from jockeys being treated and transported to hospital, remaining race times were amended to:
Race 2 – 3:15pm, Race 3 – 3:45pm, Race 4 – 4.15pm, Race 5 – 4.45.    
 
Race 2:MICHAEL HORMAN TRANSPORT QTIS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000m
 
HARBOUR GOLD - Stewards accepted the explanation put forward by trainer B Cavanough for the late declaration of apprentice K Lenton as the rider of the gelding. Raced wide throughout.
 
THE RATTLESNAKE - Stewards accepted the explanation put forward by trainer D Rewald for the late declaration of D Evans as the rider of the gelding. Raced wide throughout.
 
DEN END – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, jockey E Bell stated her mount resented the dust kickback after being slow away and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
 
TO THE WORLD - Stewards accepted the explanation put forward by trainer R Simpson the late declaration of M Gray as the rider of the gelding.
 
 
Race 3:T&T WATER TRUCK / NOCKA PEOPLES MEMORIAL CLASS 6 PLATE 1200m
 
THINK HIGH - When questioned regarding the performance, jockey J Missen stated that the gelding travelled well early in the event, however he could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. 
 
SACRED STREAM (NZ) – Raced very wide throughout.
 
BALDASSARE – Laid in under pressure down the home straight.
