QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT ATHERTON TURF CLUB – SATURDAY 14TH JANUARY 2017 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – SOFT (6) RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS:Chairman of Stewards – Ms J Portch Stewards – Mr P Gillard, Mr P LaneClerk of Scales – Mr B CockremJudge – Mr P BunyanVeterinarian – Mr M ReubinSwab Attendant – Mr B BradyStarter – Mr R Gardiner RACE 1: Bottlemart Malanda BenchMark 50 1000 metres:1st – CHAT TIME 2nd – CAPT’N THUNDERBIRD 3rd – SHORT TERM 4th – MONSOON TWISTER I’M RURRBELLIOUS – Marginally slow to begin. DIVINE SAGA – Slow to begin. Inclined to hang in when placed under pressure in the early part of the straight. RACE 2: 1911 Restaurant Maiden Plate 1100 metres 1st – INVERNESS EXPRESS 2nd – MONASHEE LASS 3rd – OUR UNIVERSAL STAR 4th – LEIGHWAY GEORGIE PORGIE – Reared as the start was effected dislodging Jockey F Edwards and took no part in the race. Trainer Mr G Horner was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners. HILL DAGONDA – Slow to begin. MY SPECIAL LADY – Raced wide without cover for the majority. LEIGHWAY – Held up and forced to shift wider around the heels of a weakening runner rounding the home turn. OUR UNIVERSAL STAR – Cast its near side front plate in the running. Following the running of this race Stewards brought forward all remaining races due to impending bad weather. RACE 3:Tom English Memorial Benchmark 70 Handicap 1100 metres 1st – RAPT IN RUMBA 2nd – TIERES ROCK 3rd – STIEG 4th – ROAD FOX STIEG – After being fractious in the barriers was removed and examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. ALDREN – Slow to begin. BON TEMPS – Began awkwardly. TIERES ROCK – Prior to the declaration of correct weight, rider of the second placegetter Jockey M Kai requested to view both the photo of the finish and the available race footage. After doing so Jockey Kai was satisfied and correct weight was declared on the judges placings. Inclined to hang out throughout. RACE 4: Spar Malanda Class 3 Plate 1200 metres1st – BIG TOMEE 2nd – I WANNA BREAK FREE 3rd – TOXICITY 4th – REGAL ROTH TOXICITY – Bumped with another runner at the start. BIG TOMEE – Bumped with another runner at the start. REGAL ROTH – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 400 metres after improving into a narrow run. I WANNA BREAK FREE – Overraced in the middle stages. RACE 5: Malanda Hotel Benchmark 45 Handicap 1400 metres1st – WILD DIVA 2nd – ZEDAHEEL 3rd – VEE EIGHT SIXTY 4th – SMALL CHANGE VEE EIGHT SIXTY – The start was delayed after the gelding was loaded into the barriers, became somewhat fractious and broke through the front gates on two occassions. Each time the gelding was quickly restrained and examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. SMALL CHANGE – Bounded in the air on jumping. CORDIALE – Stood flat footed and missed the start by a considerable distance. In allowing for the delay of the start due to another horses fractious behaviour Stewards placed a warning on the mare. Trainer Mr G Porter will be advised. EDITORIALE – Raced wide without cover throughout. CASHED UP BULLY – Raced wide throughout. ZEDAHEEL – Was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.
