QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT ATHERTON TURF CLUB SATURDAY 13 OCTOBER 2018 WEATHER - OVERCAST TRACK RATING - GOOD 4 RAIL - TRUE ENTIRE COURSE PENETROMETER N/A OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards - Mr P. Gardner Supplementary. The start of Race 1 was delayed due to the veterinary surgeon being delayed and arriving late on course. Following Race 1, all races were brought forward and raced consecutively following a severe weather report received by stewards to enable the program to be completed in a safe manner. A number of barrier gates were marginally slow to open today. This was brought to the attention of the Atherton Turf Club and also to the attention of a Racing Queensland official for this matter to be addressed. All barriers were tested prior to the start of each race and operated in a satisfactory manner. Official two-year old barrier trial Please note that the numbers carried by runners in today’s official trial were in sequenced numbers from saddlecloth number 9 to saddlecloth number 13. This was to enable the horses in the trial to be saddled in a timely manner due to the deteriorating weather conditions. RACE 1: CROSS CUSTOM MEATS BENCHMARK 50 H’CAP – 1000M POET’S MOMENT – Barrier gate was marginally slow to open. FLAMIN’ SID – Slow to begin. SIR ROLAND – Jumped in at the start bumping another runner. Raced wide in the earlier stages before being restrained near the 700m to obtain a position closer to the inside rail. WILL HE TORQUE – Bumped by another runner at the start and lost ground. PENNY GAMBLER – Raced wide for the majority of the race. OUR SINGLE DOUBT – Slow to begin and then raced wide for the majority of the race. RACE 2: HAYMANS ELECTRICAL AND DATA SUPPLIER CLASS 2 PLATE – 1200M LITTLE STRYKER – Barrier gate was marginally slow to open. VIVA LAS VEGAS - Barrier gate was marginally slow to open. COUSIN MUSCLES – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Connections were advised the gelding must obtain a further barrier certificate before being permitted to race again. THE HAWK ETERNAL – Commenced to over race shortly after the start and was restrained from heels for some distance. Shifted in near the 1000m bumping another runner. FLYING FERO – Bumped by another runner near the 1000m and commenced to over race for a short distance. AS YAWOOD – Hung in under pressure leaving the 200m for the remainder of the race proving difficult to ride out. YANKEE BUBBLES – Raced wide for the majority of the race. RACE 3: ATHERTON FAMILY DENTAL CLASS B H’CAP – 1400M Correct weight was delayed to allow the rider of the second place getter (VOLTAIC) to view the footage and ascertain if he had grounds to lodge an objection against CELESTIAL JEWEL being declared the winner, alleging interference of the concluding stages. After viewing of the footage, he declined to proceed and correct weight was given on the judges’ numbers. RANGERZANE – Blundered on jumping. TIPSY ROCKET – Put its head down as the start was effected and lost ground. CELESTRIAL JEWEL – Barrier gate was marginally slow to open. Over raced in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward and assume the lead passing the 900m. PLATINUM PULSE – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Near the 500m was restrained and lost ground when racing in restricted room. LOVE RED – Raced wide for the majority of the race. RACE 4: JOE VELLA INSURANCE BROKERS OPEN H’CAP – 1400M BARWON – Began awkwardly. STANDFORD – Slow into stride. Shifted out under pressure approaching the winning post. CRAIGLEA ALDI – Commenced to shift out under pressure over the final 200m, proving difficult to ride out. RACE 5: THE KAIRI HOTEL BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1800M As jockey S. Wiseman was indisposed, she was replaced as the rider of CONCRETUS by Apprentice S.Gittos when no other suitable senior rider was available. Jockey S.Wiseman was advised that she must provide a medical clearance before her next race ride. RAMSDEN STREET – Slow to begin. HOTEL HILLTOP – Began awkwardly. CONCRETUS – Raced wide in the middle stages of the race.
