QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT ATHERTON TURF CLUB – SATURDAY 13th APRIL 2019 WEATHER – Fine TRACK – Good 4 RAIL – IN TRUE POSITION OFFICIALSStewards – P Lane, D LaneStarter – I SmithJudges – D Scheffler, H Warren Clerk of Scales – F MallyonBookmakers Supervisor – Stewards Veterinarian – M RuppenSwab Attendant – P Charters Race 1: TABLELAND TOP MEATS QTIS 2YO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100m The start of this event was delayed after Jockey W D’Avila was dislodged from MERAKI STAR in the parade yard. Jockey D’Avila, who was examined by on-course Paramedics, declared himself fit to fulfil his engagement. SHE’S MAGANDA – Slowly away LOUD ‘N’ LOOSE – Jockey S.Pawsey advised that after racing keenly in the early and middle stages, the gelding had been unable to finish off as strongly as expected. Race 2: TROPICAL PASTURE SEEDS MAIDEN PLATE 1000m The meeting was delayed further whilst the on course Paramedics attended to a patron who had become ill. ULTIMATE DANCER – Was a late scratching at 12:55 on Veterinary advice after becoming fractious in transit and suffering lacerations to both hind legs. Trainer Mr G.Porter was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the mare being permitted to race again. CRAIGLEA OPTIMA – Was a late scratching at 2:11pm after refusing to load into the barriers. Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on the gelding be refunded in full and further that all successful wagers placed on the event prior to scratching time be subject to deductions of 4c in the dollar win and 5c in the dollar place on the face value of the betting ticket. Trainer Mr A.Bailey was advised that CRAIGLEA OPTIMA would be required to obtain one further barrier certificate prior to being permitted to race again. KENSINGTON FURY – Was unable to muster pace in the early stages. Laid in under pressure down the running. Post-race was found to have bled from both nostrils in running. This being the first occasion, Trainer Mr S.Cooper was advised the gelding would incur the mandatory 3 month ban from racing and must gallop 1000m satisfactorily prior to being permitted to race again. WHINGING WIFE – Raced for the majority. Shifted in abruptly near the 100m and was quickly straightened by App. S Gittos. EVIE CAT – Raced greenly in the home straight. Race 3: PEANUT COMPANY AUSTRALIA. A BEGA COMPANY QTIS 3YO BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000m DE LADY DELUXE – Slowly into stride. AETHERIUS – Began awkwardly losing ground. ROTH ‘N’ BELL – Raced wide for the majority. Race 4: ALL THINGS ADMIN BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000m TESTATIME – Slowly away. STRONG WILL – Raced wide for the majority. Race 5: BARRON VALLEY HOTEL OPEN HANDICAP 1200m CRAIGLEA ALDI – Lost ground when tightened between runners on jumping. FASTCAR – Hung in for the majority placing Jockey W.D’Avila at a disadvantage. Hampered another runner near the 900m. FIVE STARS – Was hampered near the 900m by another runner which was inclined to hang in. Race 6: BUNDY RUM BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1200m MUST BE OBEYED – Slowly away after jumping awkwardly. RICKKI DYNAMO – Had to be retsrained when racing ungenerously between runners near the 750m. Raced wide for the majority. MISS CELITA – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. LIBERATION LAD – Raced wide for the majority. THE BEE’S KNEES – Inconvenienced when crowded between runners soon after jumping. Raced wide rounding the home turn. Jockey K.Rockett was fined a sum of $100 under the provisions of AR211 after weighing in in excess of a half a kilogram overweihgt on JUEUN IN NEW YORK. Race 7: BARRON VALLEY HOTEL & BUNDY RUM BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1400m I’M NOT SURE – Was a late scratching at 2:30pm on Veterinary advice, after being found to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer Mr S.Potiris was advised a Veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding being permitted to race again. GUNGA GALUNGA – Was fractious in the barriers. Slowly away. IRISH HEART – Slowly away GREAT PRETENDER – Slowly away. THERMOGENIC – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure down the running. STRADA GRANDE – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages.
