Race 4 Benchmark 60 Handicap 1200m
Jockey P Romeo pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 300m he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount Little Stryker from shifting out making heavy contact with Sweet Taste ridden by Jockey W D’Avila causing that runner to checked and lose ground. Jockey Romeo’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence at the expiration of a current suspension starting at M/N 8/09/2019 and expire M/N 15/09/2019.In determining penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea and forthright evidence throughout the inquiry.
Race 1 – JAMES HOME SERVICES CARPET CLEANING & PEST CONTROL ATHERTON TABLELANDS MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
Yes Say Us – Slowly away.
Taquito Lass – Slowly away. Inconvenienced by another runner which shifted out shortly after the start.
Hatz Son – Slowly away. Was taken wider by another runner which shifted out near the 600m. Raced wide for the majority.
The Frontier – Slowly away. Shifted out near the 600m taking another runner wider. Became unbalanced after bumping with another runner near the 250m.
Fyniant – Attempted to buck soon after the start and was retired from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer S D’Avila was advised the mare would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
Zulu Jet – Shifted out shortly after the start inconveniencing another runner.
Cortesta – Bumped with another runner near the 300m. Raced wide for the majority.
Race 2 – WHOLELIFE PHARMACY & HEALTHFOODS CLASS 3 PLATE 1000m
Start Me Up – Began awkwardly, shifting out and bumping with another runner losing ground as a result.
Rose Of Kalloni – Bumped by another runner soon after the start.
Liberation Lad – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Jockey N Yadi reported the saddle shifted back near the 500m placing him at a disadvantage.
Could I Be – Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.
Power Of Divas – Raced wide for the majority.
Race 3 – TABLELAND TOP MEATS CLASS B HANDICAP 1200m
Kalahari Pearl - Stood flat-footed as the start was effected losing ground. Had to be restrained after improving onto heels near the 400m. Trainer S Horner was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
Miss Celita – Began awkwardly.
Fred’s Gift - Began awkwardly. Shifted in abruptly soon after the start. Raced wide for the majority.
Jackoh – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority.
Fox Street – Jockey M Kai advised the gelding, which raced below market expectations, was never comfortable on the tight circuit. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Race 4 – TONKIN STEEL BENCHMARK 69 HANDICAP 1400m
Centenario - Connections notified Stewards pre-race it was the intention to lead or race in a forward position today if circumstances permitted. On-course patrons were advised by way of public address. The gelding was ridden accordingly.
Global Guru – Had to be restrained after improving sharply onto heels near the 1200m.
Gunga Galunga – Had to be restrained when placed in restricted room between runners near the 300m.
Race 5 – THE TOLGA HOTEL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1800m
Unchartered – Slow to begin.
Lady Tiffany – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
Thermogenic – Became unbalanced for a short distance near the 1500m and lost ground.
First Stimulus – Shifted wider leaving the 1200m and raced wide from that point onwards. A veterinary examination following the race revealed the gelding to  have suffered a bleeding attack in running. As this was the first occasion the gelding will now incur the mandatory ban from racing for a period of 3 months and must complete a 1000m gallop to the satisfaction of Stewards.
Agility – Shifted ground outwards under pressure in the home straight.
