Race 1. ATHERTON TC BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1000m
Amuthon – Late withdrawal at 10.38am after Trainer M Dale advised Stewards the gelding had injured itself when fractious after being loaded onto the float. Mr. Dale was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to next race start.
Dunny’s Star – The gelding which was resuming after a lengthy absence from racing underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection and was passed fit to start. Bumped by another runner on jumping.

Arnhem Beauty – Raced wide for the majority.
Prior to the declaration of correct weight App E Cass who rode 3rd placegetter The Bee’s Knees lodged an objection against 1st placegetter Bonnezone (S. Kaya) alleging interference near the 750m. After hearing submissions from all relevant parties and viewing the available patrol footage, Stewards, in acknowledging that there were grounds for an objection, could not be satisfied that the amount of ground lost by The Bee’s Knees in the incident was in excess of the 1.1 Lengths margin which separated the 2 runners at the finish of the race. At a subsequent inquiry Jockey S. Kaya pleaded guilty to careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount Bonnezone to shift in near the 700m when insufficiently clear of Flying Dubai (B. Thomson) resulting in that mare being forced in onto the running of The Bee’s Knees (App E. Cass) resulting in both of those runner having to be checked. Jockey Kaya’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days commencing midnight May 30 2020 up to and including June 8 2020. In determining penalty, Stewards took into account jockey Kaya’s forthright evidence and guilty plea.

Paniagua – Inconvenienced on jumping. Forced wider near the 900m by another runner which was racing ungenerously resulting in a runner to its outside having to be restrained.
