GENERAL:
Due to a soft section of the track near the 350 metres the rail was moved out approximately 1.5 metres for a short distance to negate this area.

Race 1: PEANUT COMPANY AUSTRALIA. A BEGA COMPANY CLASS B HANDICAP – 1000 Metres

CRAIGLEA RAFFERTY – Began awkwardly.

HIGH ADVICE – Slow to begin. Jockey E. Cass was fined the sum $300 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres which is one more time than is permitted. This was Ms Cass’s 6th breach of this rule.

DANNI'S RULER – Saddle shifted forward leaving the 900 metres placing rider S. Wilson at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.

FILLY SLATER – Laid out rounding the home turn.

FLUTTERING – Raced greenly approaching the winning post.

Race 2: TROPICAL PASTURE SEEDS OPEN PLATE – 1100 Metres

STATEMENT PIECE – As no other suitable rider was available, M. Abe was permitted to ride the mare 3kg over its allotted weight. This was broadcast over the course pa system.

SPACE TIME – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Race 3: WHOLE LIFE PHARMACY AND HEALTH FOODS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200 Metres

ZULU REIGN – Was declared a late scratching at 12.15pm due to no rider being available.

HOPE AS ALWAYS – Delayed the start when broke through the front of the barriers. After being quickly restrained and returned to the barriers, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and was cleared to start. Shifted out shortly after the start and bumped FAST ENOUGH on the hind quarters.

BULLSWOOL – Slow to begin.

SHRECK – Began awkwardly.

FAST ENUFF – Bumped on the hind quarters shortly after the start and became unbalanced.

Race 4: ALWYN 'MAL' DAHL MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1200 Metres

HOT TOP – Was declared a late scratching at 12.15pm due to no rider being available.

WHITTERICK – Was declared a late scratching at 12.15pm due to no rider being available.

EVIL EYE MAC – On weighing in rider L. Morrison advised stewards it may not have been beneficial to the gelding finding the lead so early in the straight.

LABRUSCO – Stewards questioned apprentice R. Shred in relation to her tactics adopted, particularly in the early stages. Ms Shred stated it was not her intention to lead by as far as she did, however after slapping the gelding up after the start it raced keenly and refused to settle. On viewing of the film and noting Ms Shreds comments, she also agreed with the stewards that a greater effort would be expected by an experienced apprentice rider like herself. Stable foreman Mr R. Ryan agreed with the steward’s opinion.

Race 5: BARRON VALLEY HOTEL & BUNDY RUM CLASS B HANDICAP – 1400 Metres

NEWSTEAD – Put in some awkward strides for a short distance approaching the 1300 metres.

MUSICAL GIRL – Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages.

AMELIA'S RAINBOW – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
