Race 1: TROPICAL PASTURE SEEDS CLASS B HANDICAP – 1000 Metres
 
CAIERON – As the gelding had not competed for a long period of time it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Restrained near the 600 metres when crowded for room.
 
EVIL WOMAN – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination of the fillyrevealed no abnormalities.
 
NAYZIAIR – Restrained near the 600 metres when crowded for room.
 
DEECATH – Bumped on jumping.
 
MAMMA DON’T DANCE – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping DEECATH.
 
PRINCE SHUVEE – Raced wide in the early stages. Shifted in near the 600 metres crowding MUSICAL GIRL which was restrained and shifted in crowding CAIERON which was also restrained. L. Morrison was severely reprimanded and advised to be fully clear when shifting ground.
 
Race 2: EXPRESSWAY SIGNS QTIS CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1200 Metres
 
CANADIAN COMET – Slow into stride.
 
MUSICAL GIRL – Crowded for room near the 900 metres.
 
WILD CHOICE – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping DANNI’S RULER.
 
DANNI’S RULER – Bumped at the start. Laid in near the 900 metres tightening THE
DELIQUENT despite the efforts of its rider.
 
THE DELINQUENT – Restrained and shifted out across heels when tightened for room by
DANNI’S RULER which laid in despite the efforts of its rider near the 900 metres.
 
BELLE ADELE – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
QUEENOFMAINSTREET – Raced wide for the majority of the race.  
 
Race 3: WHOLELIFE PHARMACY MAIDEN PLATE – 1400 Metres
 
BULLSWOOL – Slow to begin.
 
MATTHEW JAMES – A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to its off front tendon. Trainer P. Rowe was advised a veterinary certificate of soundness must be provided prior the gelding being permitted to race or trial again.
 
Race 4: ALWYN ‘MAL’ DAHL MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP –  
1400 Metres
 
AMELIA’S RAINBOW – Began very awkwardly causing apprentice J. Edwards to
become unbalanced and as a result lost considerable ground. Correct weight was delayed
when trainer A. Bailey requested to view the stewards footage to accertain if the mare had
been afforded a fair start. After hearing all of the evidence from concerned parties and the
starter Mr Brady and barrier attandent Mr Fowler, AMELIA’S RAINBOW was declared a runner
and correct weight was notified on the judges semephored numbers.
 
HANEDA – Hung out in the middle stages and shifted out near 500 metres tightening LET’S
CONQUER.
 
LET’S CONQUER – Tightened for near the 500 metres between HIGH ADVICE and
HANEDA which hung out.
 
FLUTTERING – Inclined to shift out leaving the 100 metres proving difficult to ride.
 
VULPES – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
LORD OF LIGHT – When questioned into the early stages of the race rider F. Edwards
advised the gelding was unable to muster any early speed which was similar to its
previous start but found the line well and in his opinion would be better suited over a
longer distance than that of today’s event at this stage of its preperation.
Trainer R. Ludwick agreed with jockey Edwards assesment and further added that in his
opinion the gelding may not be entirely comfortable on this track with its downhill run
leaving the 800 metres. Their explanations were noted.
 
HIGH ADVICE – Raced wide for majority of the race.


 
 
 
Race 5: ELDERS INSURANCE MM/ROB KOCH MEMORIAL /FNQ UP  & COMING
STAYERS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 2000 Metres
 
SHRECK – Compounded over the concluding stages.
 
SUPER ROSE – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping DAY TO FAVOUR. Rider J. Baker was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR131(c) in that he made a prolonged celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.  
 
DAY TO FAVOUR – Bumped on jumping.
 
CRAIGLEA SIMMO – Slow to begin.
