The following overweights were permitted at tonight’s meeting:

Race 1: EUREKA STUD QTIS 2yo MAIDEN PLATE 1100m

OUTTA BEAUTY- Bumped on jumping.

FLYING MAPLE- Buffeted on jumping and lost ground.

RUSSIAN ALLIANCE- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped. Momentarily crowded passing the 900m. Laid in passing the 400m. Laid in under pressure down the running.

TEQUILA STEALER- Raced keenly down the back straight. Shifted out and away from another runner passing the 200m.

THREDBO- Raced greenly passing the 800m. Laid out under pressure passing the 200m.


Following the running of this event the racing surface was upgraded to a Good 3



Race 2: FOCUS HR MAIDEN HANDICAP 1850m

DUCHESS BREE- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped.

GOOMBUNGEE LAD- Buffeted on jumping and lost ground. Laid out passing the 1600m. Passing the 800m shifted wider to improve and bumped another runner.

A DEVILS CHANCE- Bumped on jumping.

CALLYWAG- Began awkwardly and shifted in. Momentarily hampered passing the 1700m.

ZOWAI- Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages and hung out from the 1600m-1200m racing excessively wide on the track despite the efforts of its rider. Momentarily held up on the heels of a tiring runner near the 400m. Trainer N Owen was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

TAUCITY- Shifted out and bumped on jumping. Bumped passing the 800m.

BINDANGO- Shifted in passing the 1700m momentarily hampering CALLYWAG. Jockey L Tarrant was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Laid out from the 1600m-1300m. Under pressure from the 600m to maintain contact with the field and commenced to relinquish ground from the 400m and was not placed under any pressure down the running. Jockey L Tarrant advised that his mount had failed to respond to his urgings from the 600m commencing to lose ground rapidly shortly thereafter and out of concern his mount may have been sore he elected not to place it under any undue pressure in the home straight. Stewards noted Jockey Tarrants explanation as well as the significant step up in distance from previous starts for the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

LUCASAYD- Became awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start and was obliged to ease. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Jockey A Allen was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use his whip on 6 occasions, 1 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.



Race 3: CARPET ONE TOOWOOMBA CLASS 2 PLATE 1200m

ENTERPRISE ELECTRA- Following a pre-race veterinary examination the mare was declared a late scratching at 4:44pm when found to be lame in the near-fore fetlock. Trainer B Gorman was advised the mare would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

DREAM CANDY- Bumped heavily on jumping. Bumped passing the 900m before being tightened for room and having to be eased near the 800m.

BANKROLL BABE- Began very awkwardly and lost considerable ground. Trainer M Dorrington was advised the mare would be required to trial prior to again being permitted to start in a race. Laid I under pressure down the running.

MADAM CHA CHA- Bumped on jumping. Bumped passing the 900m before being tightened for room and having to be eased near the 800m. Laid in under pressure down the running and crowded MANDALONG FLAG, which was weakening, passing the 200m. Jockey W D’Avila was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

UNCLE BUD- Shifted in and bumped on jumping. Shifted in passing the 900m tightening runners to its inside until a point near the 800m. Jockey A Allen was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident.

FUN SPONGE- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped heavily.

MANDALONG FLAG- Momentarily crowded passing the 200m when commencing to tire.

OUR MAGNUS- Raced wide for the majority.


Race 4: REDDING FRY FINANCIAL ADVICE QTIS 3yo MAIDEN PLATE 1200m

THE VERSDALE- Refused to proceed to the barrier and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 5:54pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all monies invested on the gelding to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 5:54pm:

0cents in the dollar for the win
0cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
1cents in the dollar for 2nd place
4cents in the dollar for 3rd place

Trainer L Ross was advised that the gelding would be required to trial under race-day conditions prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

ARTFUL GIRL- Began awkwardly before being hampered and lost ground and subsequently trailed the field for the majority before finishing off fairly.

GIRLS ABROAD- After beginning on terms with the field dipped in its hindquarters shortly after the start and was subsequently retired from the race. An immediate veterinary examination revealed the filly to be severely lame in the near-hind. The filly underwent immediate treatment being administered pain relief before being transported to Trainer M Curries on course stables. Follow up veterinary examination on the 26/02/23 revealed the filled to have sustained an injury to the near-hind stifle for which it is undergoing treatment. Mr Currie undertook to advise Stewards of the fillies condition as it progresses.

SUISSE SCNADAL- Began awkwardly and shifted in. Shifted ground under pressure down the running.

IMPOSING TIGER- Laid out passing the 300m.

ALL I WANT IS YOU- Laid in under pressure down the running.

EARLSTON- Raced wide for the majority.


Race 5: VALE KEITH WILLIAMS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1300m

JUST ENGAGED- Became extremely fractious in the barriers and underwent a veterinary examination at the barrier before being declared a late scratching at 6:38pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 6:38pm:

32cents in the dollar for the win
30cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
22cents in the dollar for 2nd place

Trainer M Currie was advised the gelding would require a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race. A blood sample was also taken from the gelding for analysis.

THUNDER MOON- As the gelding was loaded in a stall adjacent to JUST ENGAGED when that gelding became fractious, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Began awkwardly. Raced keenly down the back straight.

IN GREAT NIC- After beginning only fairly from the wide gate elected to ease in an effort to obtain a position with cover closer to the inside running rail.

DRAGON PINS- Raced ungenerously down the back straight and rounding the 800m turn.

ZANAZOU- Laid in under pressure passing the 200m and dipped in its action after being corrected. Wasn’t pressured by its rider from that point on. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. In considering the matter Stewards determined that it was reasonable for Jockey A Thompson to have taken the decision to not pressure his mount any further after it became awkward in its action. Stewards nonetheless, reminded Jockey Thompson of his obligations under the provisions of AR131(b).


Race 6: ELEGANT BLINDS TOOWOOMBA BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1625m

CHOSEN DISTANCE- Was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 7:42am on veterinary advice. Trainer M Kropp was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

PRETTY FLASH- Slow into stride.

DROP THE PILOT- Slow into stride. Shifted in rounding the home turn and bumped heavily with GOT THE LOT on straightening. Jockey G Cartwright was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident.

JET ESPRIT- Laid in passing the 1500m. Commenced to tire noticeably from a point approaching the 600m and finished significantly tailed off. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey N Tomizawa advised that when his mount commenced to tire, he attempted to urge it along but the gelding failed to respond. Trainer K Kemp advised on the 26/02/23 the gelding had pulled with well and connections would now consider the gelding immediate racing future. Nonetheless, Trainer Kemp was advised that given the manner in which the gelding had yielded ground in the event a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to it again being permitted to start in a race.

KIBBET RAHEEB- Raced ungenerously passing the 1500m. Laid in under pressure down the running.

METAVERSE- Raced keenly down the back straight.

GOT THE LOT- Raced keenly down the back straight. Laid in passing the 900m. Bumped by HEART OF MARBLE on rounding the home turn and taken wider before being bumped by another runner and taken in again bumping with HEART OF MARBLE on straightening. Jockey M Savva was reminded of her obligations under the provisions of AR131(b).

HARBELLE- Bumped heavily on straightening.

HEART OF MARBLE- Shifted out rounding the home turn and bumped with GOT THE LOT taking that runner wider before being bumped by that runner and taken in bumping heavily with HARBELLE. App J Molloy was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident. Performed below market expectations. App J Molloy advised that his mount raced flatly and, in his opinion, failed to see out the 1600m. Trainer M Currie advised on the 26/02/23 that the gelding had pulled up well and would now likely be sent for an immediate spell, as in his opinion, it had come to the end of its preparation.


Race 7: BPI BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1625m

MICHIGAN- Was fractious in the barriers having to be withdrawn to re-fit the bubble cheeker before being reloaded. Laid out for the majority. Laid in under pressure down the running.

NAVAL STRIKE- Bumped on jumping and was taken in and bumped with a further runner. Laid out passing the 1300m.

ALERT AND READY- Bumped on jumping. Shifted wider to improve passing the 600m. Laid in under pressure down the running.

RUBY’S LAD- Began awkwardly and bumped. After being caught wide was permitted to stride forward from the 1400m to obtain a one-off position outside the leader near the 1100m. Laid in passing the 800m. Performed below market expectations. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey A Thompson advised that his mount raced somewhat flatly in the finish, in his opinion, owing to the manner in which he was obliged to ride the gelding in that he was obliged to ride forward early after being caught wide.

MAEVILA RULER- Bumped leaving the 400m then again soon after.

SEMAPHORE GIRL- Bumped leaving the 400m then again soon after. Held up for clear running for a short distance near the 300m.



Race 8: TAB- DOWNLOAD THE APP MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300m

IT’S A MISTAKE- After beginning well from the wide gate elected to stride forward to obtain a forward position, Jockey Allen advised however that he did not expect to lead but after having done so with relative ease was satisfied with the position.

YOU BETTER YOU BET- Began awkwardly. Improved onto heels near the 800m when the pace slackened slightly, having to be eased. Shifted in and away from anther runner on entering the home straight.

THE REAL SAINT- Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously early. Dipped in its action leaving the 1200m. After improving onto heels was obliged to ease near the 900m. Raced wide for the majority.

SIR JOHNY- Shifted in marginally crowding MISS MANSFIELD near the 800m. Jockey S Karlsson was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

MISS MANSFIELD- Momentarily crowded near the 800m.

COMETTI- Raced ungenerously from the 1000m-800m. Raced wide for the majority.

ROMAN DAGGER- Raced wide from the 700m. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.

MY WHISTLEBLOWER- App J Molloy advised that his mount had been inclined to lay in throughout.


Race 9: BARRIER REEF POOLS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300m

RAGING WATER- Slow into stride.

WAR HOPE- Bumped with another runner on two occasions near the 1000m.

BEAN COUNTER- Bumped with another runner on two occasions near the 1000m. Momentarily held up on the heels of a tiring runner near the 500m.

SHOOTING JET- Race keenly in the early stages. Laid in and away from another runner approaching the 1000m.

STEP LIVELY- Commenced to lose ground noticeably approaching the 600m and finished significantly tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer C Geran advised on the 26/02/23 that the filly had pulled up well. Nonetheless, given the manner in which the filly had yielded ground in the event a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to it again being permitted to start in a race.
