QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT ATHERTON TURF CLUB ATHERTON – SATURDAY 22 JULY 2023 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4 RAIL – IN TRUE POSITION OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. LaneStewards – S. Copelin, A. Holzhauser (Cadet)Clerk of Scales – F. MallyonJudge – L. WeareVeterinarian/Sample Collection Officer – E. MaloneyStarter – B. Brady GENERAL Race 1: TOLGA LIONS MAIDEN PLATE 1000 metres AGLOT – Shifted in on jumping inconveniencing CODY’S BOY. CODY’S BOY – Lost ground after being inconvenienced on jumping. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Travelled wide for the majority. WISHNOWSKY – Slowly away. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Jockey S Wilson was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(5) for using his whip on 15 occasions in running (2nd breach). CHILLI CREAM – Reluctant to load. Trainer G Kinlyside was advised a warning would be placed on the filly’s barrier manners. Race 2: RATCH BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1000 metres OCTOBER STORM – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Over-raced for some distance in the middle stages.Held up for clear running soon after straightening. SOLOMON – Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority. EVIL WOMAN – Shifted ground outwards under pressure rounding the home turn hampering THE LOUT. App. L. Guernier was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. In considering the matter stewards took into account App. Guernier’s relative inexperience. RISK IN ROME - Restrained after improving onto heels near the 700m. THE LOUT –Slowly away. Had to be restrained when over-racing in the middle stages. Lost ground when restrained off the heels of EVIL WOMAN after that mare shifted out rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority. MISS BOSSY – Had to be restrained off heels when racing in restricted room for some distance in the middle stages. Race 3: BOOKIES OPEN HANDICAP 1000 metres NARDA SHAR – The gelding, which had not raced for extended period, underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection which revealed no abnormalities. Wide for the majority. ALI’S JAB – Restrained off heels near the 800m. Rolled out rounding the 700m turn inconveniencing SMARTY LEE. Restrained off heels on a number of occasions approaching the home turn. SMARTY LEE – Began awkwardly. Over raced when awkwardly placed in restricted room passing the 800m. Inconvenienced near the 700m. EVIL EYE MAC – Raced wide for the majority. Race 4: ALICE STREET DENTAL BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200 metres SIDE HUSTLE – Shifted out abruptly on jumping inconveniencing BELLEVITA, BELLE ADELE and FEMALE OFFICER.Shifted in soon after rounding the home turn inconveniencing BELLE ADELE which had to be restrained around SIDE HUSTLE’S heels. Jockey R Shred was reprimanded for carless riding under the provisions of AR131(a). FEMALE OFFICER - Slowly away after being inconvenienced on jumping. Restrained off heels near the 400m. BOOMED – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority. ROTH’N’BELL – Slowly away. BELLE ADELE – Slowly away after being inconvenienced on jumping. Put in an awkward stride becoming momentarily unbalanced near the 200m. Soon after was obliged to shift out abruptly to avoid the heels of EVIL WOMAN.. MISS DAURIAN – Raced wide for the majority. Race 5: BARRON VALLEY & BUNDY RUM QTIS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1400 metres SPANISH BEANS – Inclined to over-race in middle stages. BORLOTTI BEANS – Inclined to over-race in middle stages. LAUDEYLOU – Slowly away. NUCLEAR GIRL – Slowly away. App. L Guernier reported that the mare had raced ungenerously throughout proving extremely difficult to ride and, in her opinion, may have got its tongue over the bit in running. Raced very wide for the majority. Trainer S Hoffmann subsequently advised stewards the mare had dislodged a tooth during running from its upper jaw. Whilst stewards noted that advice, Ms Hoffman was reminded of her obligation to advise stewards straight away should anything come to her attention that may have a bearing on the performance and allow veterinary attention. HEROIC ANGEL – Inclined to race ungenerously for a short distance after being crossed by another runner approaching the 1200m. Had to be restrained after improving onto heels near the 1000m. CONFINED THOUGHTS – Raced wide for the majority.
