GENERAL
The following runners which had not raced for an extended period all underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to start. Guapo, Civitas.
Race 1: TOLGA HOTEL MAIDEN PLATE – 1000 Metres
BETTER THAN BEER – Slow to begin.
MRS PERKINS – Jockey S. Sheargold dismounted on pulling up feeling
slightly dehydrated. After being examined by the QAS officers he was cleared
to fulfil his further engagements for the day.
Race 2: SAVANNAH CAMPERS & TRAILERS CLASS B HANDICAP – 1000
Metres
ACCTORIES – Slow to begin. Raced wide early stages.
AIR FORCE ACE – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping SONIC FLIGHT.Raced wide early stages.
SONIC LIGHT – Bumped on jumping.
CIVITAS– Began awkwardly and lost ground.
DAWN REBEL – Hampered shortly after the start. Laid in early stages. Hung in under pressure in the home straight proving difficult to ride. Connections were advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
MINI BEER – Rider R. Shred lost her near side iron for a short distance after the start and when being regained shifted in hampering DAWN REBEL. Over-raced early stages and had a tendency to lay out.
Race 3: COTTAGE CAFÉ QTIS RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
BOOMED – Slow to begin.
SIDE HUSTLE – Shifted out at the start making heavy contact with COOL ATTITUDE.
COOL ATTITUDE – Bumped heavily on jumping when tightened for room and lost ground.
MILLAA MISS – Bumped on jumping becoming unbalanced.
DOMINANT ROSE – Raced wide early stages.
Race 4: – CENTRAL TYRE SERVICE OPEN HANDICAP – 1200 Metres
STRATEGIST – Slow to begin and shifted out brushing NARDA SHAR.
NARDA SHAR – Brushed on jumping.A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. As this is the second occasion on which NARDA SHAR has bled, it will now incur a lifetime ban from racing. AR79(6)
SPIRIT MEISTER – Began awkwardly. Jockey M. Abe pleaded guilty and was reprimanded for use of the whip prior to the 100m being 7 times which is 2 more then permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii) 1st breach of this rule.
Race 5: – COSTA BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP – 1400 Metres
DIVINE WIT – Connections advised instructions would be issued to ride the gelding in a forward position if circumstances permit. Was ridden accordingly. Over-raced in the early stages.
HEADLANDER – Refused to jump and took no part in the race. Trainer M. Potiris was advised a further barrier certificate would be required prior to the gelding’s next start.
STAR INES – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.
ZAKHEERA – Slow to begin.
LAUDEYLOU – Slow to begin.
NUCLEAR GIRL – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start.
RISK IN ROME – Blundered on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
Race 6: – BARRON VALLEY HOTEL, LIQUOR LEGENDS & XXXX ATHERTON
CUP OPEN HANDICAP – 2000 Metres
TUTELAGE – As jockey G. Kliese was unable to make the allotted weight he was replaced by M. Abe. Jockey Kliese was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR 190(3)(4).
MOTAMAYIZ (GB) – Slow to begin.
GAELIC – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.
