Maloney Starter – B. BradyGeneral: Due to a misunderstanding jockey Ms A. Thomson was permitted to ride half a kilogram over its allotted weight at the request from respective trainers M. Taylor, Race 2 Wicked Dreamer, and Race 4 Great Survey. Ms Thomson was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR 190(2) and advised of the required procedure in regard to overweight being permitted. Race 1: ATHERTON FAMILY LAWYERS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP – 1000 Metres WRONGFULLY WRONG, BOHEMIAN FLYER, OCTOBER STORM – Were all declared late scratching’s at 12.00pm due to no riders being available. QUEENSLANDER – As the mare had not raced for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping HEROIC ANGEL. Race greenly under pressure in the home straight. EYE OF RA – Slow to begin.HEROIC ANGEL – Bumped on jumping and was slow into stride. BORLOTTI BEANS – Raced wide for the majority of the race. SOLOMON – Raced wide for the majority of the race.Race 2: HIGHAM BUILDING GROUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1200 MetresDue to an incident at the barriers prior to the start all runners were ordered to be return the saddling enclosure with the race rescheduled to start at 2.30pm. STARFILLY – As the mare competed at Ladbroke Cairns Cannon Park races on Thursday 7 December 2023 it underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection prior to the race and on arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start. Slow to begin.ALLIED COMMAND – Was declared a late scratching at 1.43pm by order of stewards after becoming cast in the barriers and injuring jockey J. Doolan. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on ALLIED COMMAND were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions to be applicable on all successful bets prior to 1.43pm. 19 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win bets and 20 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets. Trainers S. Hoffman advised stewards it is now her intention that the gelding be retired from racing however she was nonetheless advised that if circumstances were to change it would be required to obtain two consecutive barrier trial certificates prior to being permitted to race again. A post-race veterinary examination revealed ALLIED COMMAND to be in a distressed state. BIG FLASH – Slow to begin. Lost its off-front plate during run. As a result of the delay to this race all remaining races were rescedualled to start at: Race 3 – 3.00pm, Race 4 – 3.30pm, Race 5 – 4.00pm. Race 3: HAIR BY EVA QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200 MetresTALANTINO – S. Hoffman advised stewards the mare was scratched from today’s race due to being lame in the off front-fetlock. Ms Hoffman further advised it is now her intention that TALANTINO now be retired from racing however she was nonetheless advised that if circumstances were to change it would be required to obtain a veterinary certificate of soundness prior to it being permitted to race or trial again. WISHNOWSKY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. CHARGRILL – As apprentice J. Doolan was indisposed, she was replaced by jockey N. Yadi when no other suitable apprentice was available. BLOOMIN' RIPPER – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Race 4: BJS PLUMBING & CIVIL CONTRACTING CLASS B HANDICAP – 1400 MetresWONG WAY – As the gelding competed at Ladbroke Cairns Cannon Park races on Thursday 7 December 2023 it underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection prior to the race and on arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start. KARAKAROO – As apprentice J. Doolan was indisposed, she was replaced by jockey M. Abe when no other suitable apprentice was available.TYCOON GRACE – Fractious in the barriers. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a small laceration in mouth with small amount of blood. XTRASWEET – Slow into stride. Raced wide in the early stages. Race 5: FLYNN CIVIL OPEN HANDICAP – 1400 Metres VALLEY OF DREAMS – As apprentice J. Doolan was indisposed, she was replaced by jockey M. Abe when no other suitable apprentice was available.
