QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT ATHERTON TURF CLUB Saturday 23rd NOVEMBER 2024 WEATHER – OVERCAST /SHOWERS TRACK RATING – SOFT (7) RAIL –TRUEPENETROMETER – N/A OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – A. HolzhauserStewards – P. Gillard, S. Copelin & Y. Walburgh Schmidt (CAT) Race 1:ALL THINGS ADMIN AND PRINT CLASS B HANDICAP 1200 Metres Miss Farstar – Slow to begin. Pelsaert (NZ) – Shifted in at the 200 metres brushing RUSSIAN ROSE and again at the 80 metres. Russian Rose – Shifted out at the 200 metres bumping PELSAERT and again at the 80 metres. Race 2:TOLGA HOTEL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1400 Metres Wishnowsky – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover for the majority. DomINANT ROSE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Oodles – A post-race veterinary examination identified the presence of blood in both nostrils. OODLES shall not without the permission of the Stewards: (a) for a period of 2 months after the attack of bleeding, be trained, exercised or galloped on a racecourse, recognized training track, private training establishment, or other place;; (b) must not start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after: i. a gallop of at least 1,000 metres; or ii. an official trial or jump-out; in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward.AR 79(4). Trainer T Clive advised stewards it will be his intentions to retire the gelding from racing. Race 3:ATHERTON INTERNATIONAL CLUB BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1800 Metres Oxfordshire – Slow to begin. Race 4:GREAT NORTHERN BULL RIDING QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1000 Metres Hold My Halo – Delayed the start when becoming fractious in the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Began very awkwardly. On returning to scale rider D Smith was of the opinion the horse was not comfortable in its action and as such he put the horse under no pressure throughout the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer representative Mr P McGuire was advised if anything comes to light in the coming days that he must report it to the stewards and the horse must obtain a further barrier certificate and trial to the satisfaction of stewards before being permitted to race again. Snuggles – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced greenly in the middle stages. Appeared to shy at the winning post and shifted wider. Sirene Rouge – Raced ungenerously in the middle stages. Race 5:SERRA DRILLING BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000 Metres Nazorian – Slow to begin befor improving forward and obtaining the lead near the 1000 metres. Shifted in marginally near the 200 metres when tiring, tightening the running of CELEBRATION which was attempting a narrow run to it’s inside. Celebration – When attempting a narrow run near the 200 metres was dissapointed for that run when NAZORIAN shifted in marginally. Whilst stewards noted the minor shift J Edwards (NAZORIAN) was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. In this incident CELEBRATION was restrained and shifted wider. Guapo – Raced three wide without cover for the majority.
