GENERAL
The following runners which had not raced for an extended period all underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to start: MAKANUI, DYSTOPIAN & INVINCIBLE BAY.
 
Race 1: BOTTLEMART MALANDA BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1200 METRES
 
WONG WAY – Blundered on jumping.
 
Stewards inquired into the reason BORLOTTI BEANS was restrained near the 800 metres and lost ground. After hearing evidence from App T. Leslight (BORLOTTI BEANS), W. D’Avila (KITEMA), C. Meehan (TAORMINA RHYTHM) and stewards observation along with viewing the available race-day footage it was established that after being ridden along for some distance approaching the 800 metres BORLOTTI BEANS raced in restricted room to the inside of TAORMINA RHYTHM which shifted in when over-racing and bumped BORLOTTI BEANS on two occasions. BORLOTTI BEANS then improved into a narrow run to the inside of KITEMA on the point of the turn resulting in BORLOTTI BEANS being restrained and losing ground. Stewards could not be satisfied that any one rider was to blame for the incident other than to advise all riders to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
TAORMINA RHYTHM – Over raced in the early stages and shifted in bumping BORLOTTI BEANS near the 800 metres.
 
BORLOTTI BEANS – Raced in restricted room approaching the 800 metres and was bumped and then improved into a narrow run to the inside of KITEMA and was restrained and lost ground.
 
Race 2: 1911 RESTAURANT BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1400 METRES
 
CALL ME HILTON – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed small lacerations to upper lip and gum.

HERNE HILL – Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 800 metres.
 
SWAHILI MAI – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages. Lost its offside front plate in running.
 
DOMINANT ROSE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 3: SPAR MALANDA QTIS Maiden Plate 1000 METRES
 
DEE TEE TEN – Slow to begin. Hung out approaching the 500 metres and shifted wider, then continued to lay out down the home straight. Trainer N. Homann was advised the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start.
 
ASAMBE – Raced fiercely in the early stages.
 
CHARM TELLER –Bumped near the 600 metres. Raced wide for the majority.
 
SUPERSTITIONS – Shifted wider at the 600 meters bumping CHARM TELLER.
 
AIRBORNE HOTDOG – Jockey W. D’Avila advised stewards the gelding proved difficult to ride and shifted out near the 200 metres before being corrected.
 
ELSPHERE – A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed a poor post-race recovery. Co trainer P Rowe advised stewards it is his intentions that the mare be sent for an immediate spell. He was advised a veterinary clearance of fitness is required prior to the horse racing or trialing again.
 
JAAKUNA – On returning to scales jockey A. Thomson advised stewards the mare proved difficult to ride for the majority of the race. Lost its near fore plate during running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near front hoof. Co trainer P Rowewas advised a veterinary clearance of fitness is required prior to the horse racing or trialing again.
 
Race 4: TOM ENGLISH MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1000 METRES
 
DYSTOPIAN – Slow to begin.
 
SHEEZALITTLETORQUE – Slow to begin.
 
SHEZAPEARLER – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no abnormalities.
 
DENIMS – Slow to begin. Following today’s performance, it’s the trainers intentions that the gelding be retired from racing.
 
MAZZARATTI – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
Race 5:  MALANDA BIG PUB OPEN Handicap 1000 METRES
 
NEVETON – Slow to begin.
