Race 1: XMAS AT THE RACES 01/12/18 CLASS B HANDICAP - 1000 metres
 
HE’S OUR DRAGON – Travelled wide and hung out for much of the race.
 
LA JULIETTE – Lay out under pressure down the home straight.
 
SENTIMENTAL MISS – Bounded out of the gate and jumped outwards.
 
 
Race 2: HATS BY HELEN OPEN HANDICAP - 1000 metres 
 
 
SPORTING PAGE – Was a late scratching at 2.40pm when the gelding escaped from the clerk of the course on two occasions and returned to the mounting yard. Deductions were announced with correct weight being 47 cents in the dollar value of the win bet and 26 cents in the dollar value of the place bet.
 
BENCHI PEGASUS – Dipped on jumping and travelled wide for much of the race with no cover.
 
OSSENHAGEN – Hung out for much of the race.
 
Jockey S. Gittos was attended to by ambulance officers on returning to the mounting yard for heat stress and was transported to the Longreach Hospital. Jockey S. Gittos was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to race riding again.
 
 
Race 3: BARCY YELLOWBELLY SWIM CLUB MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres  
 
MISTRESS OF MONEY was a late scratching at 2pm after stewards were advised trainer D. Dolgner had had transport difficulties.
 
S. McGovern was the replacement rider on SCOTTABEE for S. Gittos.
 
B. Rafter was the starter for race three due to M. Cullen being a part owner in one of the horses starting.
 
ANGRY DESERT – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
THE PENNY DROPPED – Jumped outwards. Jockey Dillon stated the mare felt sore on returning to the mounting yard.
 
Race 4: BARCALDINE RUGBY LEAGUE GOLDEN OLDIES QTIS CLASS 2 PLATE - 1200 metres  
 
Apprentice A. Ross was the replacement rider on DO I HAVE TO.
 
BON DANCER – Travelled wide for much of the race.
 
CASSAVANCE – Travelled wide in the early stages.
 
DO I HAVE TO – Slow to begin and travelled wide for much of the race.
 
Race 5: BARCY SPARKY – DOUG GESCH MEMORIAL RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 HCP - 1600 metres      
 
D. Rewald was the replacement rider on PART THE SEA.
 
BARBERANCE – Eased off heels nearing the 1200m.
 
ICE MELODY – Eased off heels near the 1200m and contacted the inside running rail when pressure was applied from outside horses.
 
DREAM CAPTAIN – Eased off heels near the 1200m and was placed in restricted racing room with pressure from the outside.
