QUEENSLAND RACING AND INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BARCALDINE RACING CLUB – SATURDAY 2NDNOV, 2019 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – Good (3) RAIL – TRUE ENTIRE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – Ms K. McCrackenClerk of Scales – G. ScottJudge – M. Miller / J. MillerVeterinarian – B. NewtonStarter- M. Cullen/B. Rafter There was a slight delay to the start of race one awaiting C. Rogers to arrive on course due to transport difficulties. Apprentice M. Kennedy was found to have in her possession a mobile phone in the jockey’s room at Barcaldine. Subsequentially fined $200 under AR218(4)(b). Race 1: XMAS AT THE RACES 30 NOVEMBER 2019 BM 45 HANDICAP - 1000 metres BLINKIN DUSTY – Hampered between runners jumping awkwardly at the start. RHYTHM NATION – Slow into stride. SAME OLD STORY – Jumped away awkwardly contacting another runner and travelled wide for much of the event. PETITE ELLE – Slipped on jumping. IN TOO DEEP – Travelled wide for much of the race. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer D. O’Brien was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. FLEWSHOT – Jumped outwards contacting another runner.HIDDEN CHIEF – Reared as the start was effected causing the gelding to be slow away and in the vicinity of the 800m raced with his head in the air for several strides. NEVADA MO – Jumped inwards contacting another runner. PUMP ACTION – Contacted at the start causing the mare to be slow away then travelled wide for much of the event. ANGRY DESERT – Jumped awkwardly contacting another runner. Race 2: THIS ONE IS FOR GERRY OPEN HANDICAP - 1000 metres BUSH CAVIAR - Found to have bled from both nostrils on returning to scale. As this was the second incident trainer H. Forster was advised the gelding would now be ineligible to race again. ENJOYABLE -- Jumped outwards contacting another runner, then rounding the first turn hung out severely despite the efforts of its rider. The gelding was eventually pulled up in the home straight and failed to finish the event. Trainer B. Dixon was advised the gelding would have to pass a barrier trial to stewards’ satisfaction prior to the gelding racing again. DUCK IN DUBAI – Slow to begin and slow into stride, taken very wide nearing the 800m by ENJOYABLE which hung out severely. Hung in under pressure in the home straight. Race 3: THE OLD BOYS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres HARVEY STAR was a late scratching at 1.00pm due to no rider being available. ELEGANT MISS was a late scratching at 3.02pm as the mare refused to load. Due to the $26 starting price no deductions were announced. Trainer C. Rogers was advised a warning would be placed on the mare for her barrier manners. THE MARSHALL – Slow to begin and slow into stride. SHE DEVEL – Travelled wide for much of the event. SURPRISE SELECTION – Slow to begin and travelled wide in the early stages. Race 4: ‘GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN’ CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1200 metres NO MORE BIDS – Slow to begin. NIGHT IN PARADISE – Travelled wide in the early stages. GOLDSAY - Jumped away awkwardly. TOP EVIE – Slow to begin. RECONIS – Slow into stride. HOVE ACTUALLY – Travelled wide for much of the event. Race 5: DOUG GESCH MEMORIAL BM 60 HCP - 1600 metres SONG ONE – Travelled wide for much of the event. STYLISH LUCK – Slow into stride. IF BY CHANCE – Travelled wide for much of the event.
