Race 1: BARCALDINE RC BM 60 HANDICAP - 1000 metres
 
STAR SILK – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
SPLASHETTE – Slow to begin and travelled wide for much of the event.
 
COOL RAIN – Travelled wide in the early and middle stages.
 
AQUAGEM – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages
 
PLENTY OF WHIT – Fractious in the barriers and jumped away awkwardly as a result. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 2: BARCALDINE RC BM 60 HANDICAP - 1000 metres 
 
CHARLES – Travelled wide throughout.
 
THE CONSIGLIERE – Travelled wide in the early stages.
 
FLEWSHOT – Slow to begin.
 
BETTER NOT FLY – Travelled wide in the early and middle stages.
 
DUCK IN DUBAI – Laid in for several strides at the top of the straight and continued to when tiring over the concluding stages.
 
IRONORE GINA – Raced in restricted room for several strides near the 400m when attempting a narrow run.
 
WICKED GRIMSHAW – Travelled wide throughout.
 
 
 
Race 3: BARCALDINE RC QTIS MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 metres  
 
CAPTAIN LAS – Jumped awkwardly contacting an outside runner.
 
TEMPER TEMPER – Raced in restricted room in the vicinity of the 800m when an outside runner shifted ground.
 
THE MARSHALL – Slow to muster, taken wider in the home straight to gain clear running.
 
CHEEKY CHOPS – Restrained off heels at the 850m.
 
WEATHER MAN – Travelled wide in the early stages with no cover.
 
GEM SETTER – Jumped away awkwardly. Tightened for room nearing the 800m, contacting the inside running rail on several occasions resulting in the horse being checked and losing its rightful position in the race. Apprentice K. Patch was cleared to fulfil her remaining riding engagements after complaining of soreness to her foot due to this incident.
 
SARENDA – Tightened for room in the vicinity of the 800m and had to be restrained.
 
SHE DEVEL – Slow to begin and slow to muster speed, then travelled wide for much of the event.
 
PURPLE TRUMPET – Tightened runners to the inside nearing the 800m causing several runners to be restrained and resulting in GEM SETTER contacting the inside running rail and losing its position. Jockey C. Rogers the rider of PURPLE TRUMPET pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding for shifting ground when not sufficiently clear and was suspended for a period to commence on midnight 16.05.2020 and to conclude on midnight 22.05.2020. When determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration jockey Rogers’ exemplary record, guilty plea, inquiry during conduct and contributing factors in the incident when ascertaining penalty.
 
 
Race 4: BARCALDINE RC QTIS MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 metres  
 
BABYLON EXPRESS – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
ZODIAC STAR – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
RED RED ROSE – Slow to muster speed and raced ungenerously throughout. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed no abnormalities. Trainer T. Austin was advised a warning would be placed on the record of the horse for competitiveness. 
 
 
Race 5: BARCALDINE RC OPEN PLATE - 1100 metres      
 
BENCHI PEGASUS – Slow to begin and slow to muster speed.
 
DRAYMAN – Travelled wide throughout.
 
GENDEBIEN – Moved wide in the straight to gain clear running.
 
ZUKAZ – Carted wider on the track in the straight as an inside runner shifted ground.
 
LEO’S EXPRESS – Travelled 3 wide in the early and middle stages with no cover, then lay out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
SLAYDEM – J. Hoopert was the replacement rider for S. Sweedman who was unable to make the weight. Travelled wide in the early and middle stages.
 
S. Sweedman was replaced on all 57kg rides after this race. After considering evidence tendered by jockey Sweedman in regards to the reasons why he was overweight which included recently coming back from an injury and the inability to sweat due to the travel, no action was taken. Jockey Sweedman was nonetheless reminded of obligation in future to fulfil all engagements.
 
 
Race 6: BARCALDINE RC CLASS B HANDICAP – 1300 metres
 
GREY FALCON – Stood flat footed as the gates opened losing considerable ground. Jockey R. Hancock stating the gelding resented the tail hold. Trainer R. Little was advised a warning would be placed on the record of the horse for competitiveness.
 
BRITZEL – Reared as the gates opened losing ground.
 
ROCKY GAMBLE – Slow to begin.
 
NICCONI PASQUALE – Lay in over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 7: BARCALDINE RC CLASS B HANDICAP – 1300 metres
 
Prior to correct weight being declared, apprentice D McGillivrary requested to view the photo finish print prior to correct weight to ascertain the judge’s placings. 1st HARD ENOUGH (C. Rogers) 2nd POGO (D. McGillivrary) 3rd LUBYOUFOREVER (D. Rewald) 4th GRANVILLE ISLAND (B. Richardson).  The judges and the connections of POGO and HARD ENOUGH gave evidence and reviewed the print. It was decided a margin was evident and correct weight was given on the judge’s placings.
 
POGO – Stood flat footed in the gates losing ground.
 
GEISSLER – J. Hoopert was the replacement rider for S. Sweedman. Travelled wide for much of the event.
 
LUBYOUFOREVER – Reared prior to the start, jumped away awkwardly, then slow into stride.
 
 
Race 8: BARCALDINE RC BM 65 HANDICAP – 1300 metres
 
ZENDAYE – Slow to begin and travelled wide for much of the race.
 
ARGENTO PERLO – Eased off heels approaching the 800m.
 
ROSEXCEL – Contacted on jumping away and over raced and became awkward on heels near the 800m.
 
LONG STORY SHORT – Kate Patch was permitted to be subsituted rider for S. Sweedman. Fractious in the barriers prior to jumping, eased off heels approaching the 800m as the pace of the race slackened.
 
AMADEO – Contacted on jumping then travelled wide for much of the race.


 
Race 9: BARCALDINE RC BM 65 HANDICAP – 1300 metres
 
CLASSIC WIND – Stood flat footed then jumped awkwardly losing ground, shifted wide on the track to gain clear running in the straight. Trainer M. Johnstone was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
TURKEY BEACH – Travelled wide for much of the race.
 
RHYOLA – Lay in over the concluding stages.
 
THUNDER – Reared prior to the gates opening.
 
TOP EVIE – Slow away and slow to muster speed.
 
ACCOUNTANT – Travelled wide with cover in the early and middle stages.
 
GREAT SHINE – Bounded out of the gates and was awkward for several strides then travelled wide for much of the event.
 
 
 
Race 10: BARCALDINE RC OPEN HANDICAP – 1600 metres
 
HEROISM – Shifted in down the home straight to gain clear running.
 
HUNTER ISLAND – Jockey C. Bryen was fined the sum of $100 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip in the home straight on the gelding.
 
OUR BEATNIK –Travelled wide with no cover for much of the race.
 
MISHNAH – Bounded out of the gates and over raced in the early stages.
 
SHADOW PRINCE – Jockey M. Gray was the replacement rider for S. Sweedman.
 
STYLISH LUCK – Eased to the rear of the field shortly after jumping.
 
BARBERANCE – Travelled wide in the early and middle stages, shifted in down the home straight to gain clear running.
