RACING QUEENSLAND STEWARDS REPORT BARCALDINE RACING CLUB – SATURDAY 31stOCT, 2020 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – Good 3 RAIL – TRUE ENTIRE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – Ms K. McCrackenStewards – C. Moxham Race 1: XMAS RACES 28.11.20 BM 45 HANDICAP – 1000 metres GOLDEN STREET was a late scratching at 12:00pm due to no rider being available. Jockey J. Geppert was permitted by stewards to ride GOLDEN FEATURES 1kg over the allotted weight. CHILLI PRAWN – Jumped away awkwardly. SASSY STYLE – Reared prior to the start. GOLDEN FEATURES – Jumped inwards heavily contacting SCOTTABEE. Eased off heels shortly after the start when an outside runner shifted in then, hung out rounding the home turn. SCOTTABEE – Hampered between runners on jumping then shortly after the start buffeted between runners when LOLLIPOP ROCKET shifted ground. LOLLIPOP ROCKET – Shifted in shortly on jumping causing GOLDEN FEATURES to be eased before alleviating the pressure to the inside. FLOSS’S DREAM – Jumped outwards then bumped by an outside runner being carted inwards. Bumped for several strides shortly after the start when outside runners shifted ground then tended to hang out. Apprentice Ross stating the mare raced a green throughout the event. HOCKED – Bounded out of the gates and was heavily contacted by outside runners jumping awkwardly then buffeted between runners shortly after the start. Nearing the 800m was placed onto heels and ultimately clipped the heels of FLOSS’S DREAM losing momentum. An inquiry into the incident was opened but with the patrol footage on hand and the evidence taken from the riders involved and the head on observations from the Stewards, no further action was taken. Race 2: SHHH THE GOANNAS ARE COMING QTIS RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 HANDICAP - 1200 metres50 LET’S GO CHAMP was a late scratching at 12:00 pm due to no rider being available. PHOENIX SHADOW – Travelled wide in the early and middle stages. HARVEST PRIDE – Slow into stride. ELITE GREY – Rolled in nearing the 350m squeezing up NIGHT IN PARADISE on the inside running rail. ROSEXCEL – Tended to hang in shortly after the start taking some time to settle into rhythm. DUCK IN DUBAI – Lay in shortly after the start and continued for much of the race proving exceedingly difficult to ride out. Connections were advised stewards would need to see a significant improvement in the racing manners of the gelding next start. A post-race veterinary inspection failed to reveal any considerable abnormalities. AQUAGEM – Slow to begin then held up for clear running in the home straight until angled out approaching the 280m in order to improve. Laid in over the concluding stages when placed under pressure. NIGHT IN PARADISE – Was obliged to be eased approaching the 350m when ELITE GREY rolled in. Race 3: BARCY OLD BOYS OPEN HANDICAP - 1200 metres BOLLENTE – Slow into stride, then travelled wide in the early and middle stages without cover. BOINGO – Travelled wide in the early stages. JARHEAD – Tended to lay in over the early stages of the race. Race 4: GOLDEN OLDIES GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN MAIDEN PLATE - 1300 metres Correct weight was given on finishing placings of 6 – 7 – 4 –1 but quickly amended to 6 – 7 – 4 – 3 – 1 with no bearing on the betting market. DEELING US IN – Bounded outwards from the gates contacting the barrier partition then laid in over the concluding stages of the race. Had to be corrected on straightening for several occasions, proving difficult to ride out, placing the rider at a disadvantage. DROGON – Bounded out of the gates then took offence to the corrections made by the rider throwing his head in the air for several strides. PACQUOLA – Slow to begin. RED RED ROSE – Apprentice A. Ross was fined $300 for her use of the whip on the mare. VENTURES BENIR – Travelled wide in the early and middle stages. Race 5: “BARCY SPARKY – DOUG GESCH MEMORIAL” BM 60 HANDICAP – 1600 metres STYLISH LUCK – Slow to begin and slow into stride. Travelled wide throughout the event with no cover. THE KROC – Eased off heels at the 1400m as the pace slackened at the front. Travelled wide with cover. PIRELLI – Contacted at the 200m when GOLDSAY shifted out. Prior to correct weight stewards permitted Trainer C. Smith to view the patrol footage of the home straight to ascertain whether he had grounds to lodge an objection. After viewing the film trainer C. Smith did not wish to proceed. Trainer C. Smith also reported the gelding had lost both back plates during the running of the race. MISHANI CENTURION – Slow into stride. GOLDSAY – Shifted out under pressure near the 200m contacting PIRELLI. Jockey Townsend was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground. Apprentice T. Townsend affirming the gelding tended to lay out for much of the race. Stewards noted her comments. STEWARDS RACE DAY SUMMARY Summary of action concerning licensees Fines A.
