GENERAL
Prior to the first race a delegation of riders and Stewards inspected a portion of the track near the 1100m where a sprinkler had been leaking leaving a wet patch near the running rail. After inspecting the track, the riders and Stewards were satisfied the track was safe and the meeting continued as programmed.
 
Race 1: BARCALDINE RACE CLUB BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1000 metres
 
ANGELS OF FENWAY – Over raced early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards throughout the home straight.
 
HAYYLER'S TARY – Raced keenly through the early stages. Held up for clear racing room near the 300m. Rider T Chambers dropped her whip near the 250m. 
 
LAST ARMAGEDDON – Raced wide throughout.
 
WALL STREET TYCOON – Dipped on jumping.
 
SIDETRIP – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced and had to be steadied near the 100m by MISS RHAPSODY which was laying inwards.

FLASH FIBIAN – Raced wide throughout.
 
MISS RHAPSODY – Laid inwards under pressure over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to detect any abnormalities.
 
ALGEROBA – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 2: BARCALDINE RACE CLUB OPEN Handicap 1200 metres
 
CHAPELCO – Raced ungenerously over the middle stages.
 
NICK THE SKIP – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted outwards contacting BURDEN. When questioned regarding the performance of NICK THE SKIP rider A Bakos advised it failed to let down over the final stages.   
 
I WANNA BE A JEEP – Raced wide throughout.
 
BURDEN – Jumped away awkwardly and bumped with NICK THE SKIP. Laid inwards over the early stages and again over the concluding stages.

 
Race 3: BARCALDINE RACE CLUB OPEN Handicap 1600 metres
 
JARHEAD – Over raced through the early stages. Trainer R Little was fined $500 pursuant to AR106(1) for being negligent in saddling when presenting JARHEAD without the lead bag.
 
ANOTHER PLAN – Slow to begin.

LI'L RODGE – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice rider A Sprie was questioned regarding his tactics he adopted during the running. Mr Sprie advised he had been instructed by trainer C Smith to push forward at the start and race handy to the pace. He stated that after he had attempted to push his mount forward over the early stages he was mindful that his mount had worked hard. He elected to remain wide rather than continue to push forward and use more energy. Mr Smith confirmed the instructions given to apprentice Sprie. Mr Sprie acknowledged in hindsight he should have continued to push forward as instructed by Mr Smith. The Stewards concurred with Mr Sprie’s assessment and deemed no further action was required. Mr Sprie was further spoken too advisedly regarding the manner he rode near the 800m.
 
DOOM – Over raced through the early stages.
 
DIXIE PREACHER – Struck the running rail passing the 800m when racing in restricted room. 
 
 
Race 4: BARCALDINE RACE CLUB QTIS Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
BLADE MAN – Was reluctant to load and delayed the start. Trainer T Austin was advised a warning was placed on the barrier manners of the gelding. Was reluctant to shift inwards when improving in the vicinity of the 200m.
 
BUMPER BAR (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly
 
NALSSENDORI – Over raced early stages and had to be restrained near the 900mwhen checking off the heels of RIPOVA.
 
THE LANDING – Laid inwards final stages.
 
ARTEMIS GIRL – Laid inwards near the 900m.
 
RIPOVA – Drifted near the 900m when restrained by rider M Schrapel. When questioned M Schrapel advised the Stewards RIPOVA had overreacted when he eased his mount causing it to drift back. Checked near the 600m when racing to the inside of SERATALLI (D Rewald) and THE LANDING (J Missen). Stewards enquired into the circumstances of RIPOVA checking. After hearing evidence from the riders it was established RIPOVA had overreacted again when being eased when racing in tight quarters. The Stewards were unable to apportion blame on any one rider and no further action was taken.
 
LOVE YOU LINDA – Over raced early stages.
 
 
Race 5: BARCALDINE RACE CLUB Class 1 Handicap 1100 metres
 
PARA PARK – Raced wide throughout.
 
BETTER NOT BLINK – Stewards accepted Trainer H Foster’s explanation for the late declaration of rider D Rewald.
 
THERAPY – Raced wide over the middle stages. Rider B Richardson was fined $300 for using her whip on seven occasions two more than permitted prior to the 100m pursuant to AR132(7(a)(ii). When considering penalty Stewards took into account this was Ms Richardson’s fourth breach in the previous 12 months.
 
DISCO LIGHTS (NZ) – Hampered on jumping.
 
OXYGEN MAN – Hampered at the start and laid inwards over the early stages placing rider R Tilley in difficulty. Over raced early stages.Raced wide throughout.
 
PHARAOHSPHERE – Over raced early stages. Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards in the home straight.
 
ROSETTES – Laid inwards throughout the home straight.
 
SPALLINA – Was slow to begin with rider E Bell advising SPALLINA lost its footing upon jumping. Shifted ground outwards racing inside the 100m to obtain clear racing room.
 
BETTER BE GREAT – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start.
 
GOLDEN TREASURE – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
COLOUR CHART – Impeded at the start.
 
Race 6: BARCALDINE RACE CLUB BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1600 metres
 
THE KROC –Over raced early and middle stages.
 
PAST TENSE – Slow to begin. Had to shift ground for clear running near the 150m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to disclose any abnormalities. Stewards opened and adjourned an enquiry in relation to the handling of PAST TENSE by rider R McMahon.
 
JERRY ZANDA – Was declared a late scratching at 3.51pm on veterinary advice after showing signs of lameness in the off foreleg. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and the placegetters prior to 3.51pm as following: 
 
Win Bets – SURPRISE SELECTION - 8 cents
Place Bets winner SURPRISE SELECTION - 10 cents
Place Bets second TOWER ROAD - 9 cents
Place Bets third RECONIS - 10 cents
All monies bet after the Stewards' declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket.
Trainer B Richardson was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to JERRY ZANDA resuming racing.
SIZZLESUN – Raced ungenerously early stages and had to be restrained to avoid heels shortly after the start. Rider reported the gelding to feel uncomfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
STRAWBERRY BLONDE – Laid inwards during the middle stages and became awkwardly placed on heels.

SHEZOME – Raced wide over the early stages.
 
SURPRISE SELECTION – Laid inwards and then proceeded to shift outwards over the final stages.

 
Race 7: BARCALDINE RACE CLUB Class 6 Plate 1300 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow A Butler the rider of third placed HAZAR to view the photo finish. After viewing the photo correct weight was declared on the judges’ placings.  
 
ARCHADE – Dipped on jumping.
 
BOOMSHAKE THE ROOM – Raced wide with cover.
 
HAZAR – Over raced early and middle stages.
 
NO REFUND – Jumped away awkwardly and raced keenly through the early stages.
 
REACH FOR HEAVEN (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
THAT SONG – Hampered on jumping
 
THE LAUNCHER – Over raced early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 8: BARCALDINE RACE CLUB Class 3 Plate 1200 metres
 
FROZE – Raced wide throughout.
 
STRIKE POINT – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
ZEBONET – Bumped on jumping. Laid inwards in the home straight.
 
BESTERS – Hampered on jumping. Over raced early and middle stages. Became awkwardly placed on heels approaching the 600m.
 
MOLLY GOLIGHTLY – Over raced early and middle stages. Placed in restricted room over the early and middle stages of the home straight and had to shift ground over the concluding stages to obtain clear running.
 
STAZZANA – Slow to begin. Over raced during the early stages. Made the bend awkwardly near the 800m and laid outwards. Raced wide throughout.
