QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BARCALDINE RACING CLUB INCSATURDAY 16 APRIL 2022 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – K. McCrackenStewards – M. HeathClerk of Scales – G. Scott Judge – T. Austin / W. ChandlerVeterinarian – D. McKenzieStarter – M. Cullen Race 1: BARCALDINE RACE CLUB BM 55 HANDICAP 1000 metres Jockey R. McMahon was permitted to ride .5kg overweight on GOD’S PENNY. MUSIC AWARD – Travelled wide in the early stages. SE RENDRE – Tended to lay out over the concluding stages. Shifted out at the 180m hampering NITT WHITT. Jockey R. Faehr was reminded to exercise more caution in similar circumstances. NITT WHITT – Lay in down the home straight and had to be eased at the 180m when SE RENDRE shifted out momentarily. Eased off heels near the winning post when continuing to lay in over the concluding stages. MISS HOW LONG – Fractious prior to the start then reared on jumping and proved extremely difficult to ride out. Trainer Ken Austin was advised the mare was required to undergo a satisfactory barrier trial prior to racing again. MRS SENNA – Travelled wide and showed no early pace. Race 2: BARCALDINE RACE CLUB MAIDEN PLATE 1000 metres OUR YOUNG MAN – Slow to muster speed. PRIZED ARTIST – Began awkwardly. REALLY REALLY GOOD – Slow to begin and raced four deep for much of the race. Race 3: TAB TOK CUP 30TH APRIL 2022 OPEN HANDICAP 1000 metres Jockey R. McMahon was permitted to ride DISCO MO 1kg overweight. DISCO MO – Jockey R. McMahon when questioned regarding the poor performance, stated the gelding raced ungenerously throughout and failed to stretch out when asked. A post-race veterinary inspection failed to reveal any abnormalities. HEAVEN’S HIGH – Awkward to begin. JARHEAD – Bounded out of the gates losing ground. STRIKE POINT – Travelled three deep for much of the race. ACEPLAY – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted outwards. LADY YENDOR – Slow into stride. Race 4: MAY YOUR EASTER BE EGG–CELLENT QTIS BM 45 HANDICAP 1300 metres GOLDSAY – Slow to muster early speed. PARA PARK – Slow into stride. LOVE YOU LINDA – Slow into stride and then over raced shortly after the start. MISSY EM – Bounded out of the gates. Race 5: HAPPY EASTER EVERY BUNNY BM 60 HANDICAP 1600 metres There was a delay to correct weight as jockey M. Schrapel requested to see the photo finish print for first and second place prior to correct weight being given. After reviewing the print correct weight was given on the judge’s placings. NIGHT IN PARADISE was a late scratching at 3:10pm on veterinary advise with the mare injuring herself enroute to the track. SURPRISE SELECTION – Tightened for room near the 70m and eased momentarily. PORTABELLE – Slow to begin and travelled wide for much of the race. SIZZLESUN – Held up for clear running from the 350m then elected to take a difficult run to the inside of BOULT near the 90m causing SURPRISE SELECTION to be momentarily eased along the rail. Jockey M. Schrapel affirming the gelding would not shift outwards when laying in for much of the home straight. M. Schrapel was reprimanded under AR131(a) and reminded to exercise more caution in similar instances. BOULT – Over raced in the early stages.
