Race 1: RAY WHITE RURAL LONGREACH / BARCALDINE BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1000 metres

JOEY JAWS (NZ), began awkwardly, lay in shortly after the start and approaching the 900 metres had to check and switch out around heels when tightened between SONNY and ASBURY PARK which shifted in when not clear to do so.

ASBURY PARK, Approaching the 900 metres shifted in and tightened JOEY JAWS, ridden by Dennis Baker, onto SONNY, ridden by apprentice jockey Sarah Robbins, resulting in JOEY JAWS checking and switching out across heels. Jockey Tim Brummell pleaded guilty to a charge under the terms of AR131(a) careless riding for shifting ground when not clear to do so. Jockey Tim Brummell’s license was suspended for a period of seven days to commence on midnight Tuesday 29th November and conclude on midnight Tuesday 6th December 2022. When determining an appropriate penalty stewards considered the excellent riding record of Jockey Tim Brummel having no offences in the last 12 months for this rule and his guilty plea.

KING CONI, raced wide in the early stages.

MAXAWAY (NZ), approaching the 850 metres over raced and shifted out when being restrained.

SONNY ALGEROBA, raced wide in the early stages.

LOVE OVER GOLD, began awkwardly.

Race 2: RHYS PEACOCK / RAY WHITE BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000 metres

SHENANIGAN CITY, slow to begin.

NORTHERN WATER, raced wide in the early and middle stages.

MUSTAFA, trainer Mark Oates was fined $100.00 under the terms of AR206(2) for not enacting a gear change to remove blinkers before acceptances. In assessing penalty stewards considered the trainers exceptional record in relation to such matters.
Apprentice jockey Anna Bakos pleaded guilty to a charge under the terms of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100 metres, 3 more than permitted. Jockey Bakos was issued with a $200.00 fine.
On returning to scale apprentice jockey Anna Bakos made application to view the photo finish regarding first and second placing’s and after doing so was satisfied with the judge’s semaphored numbers.

LOVE SICK, very slow into stride and raced greenly in the early stages.

MURANO MAGIC, slow into stride.

HOT CHOCOLATE, raced greenly down the home straight.


Race 3: RHYS PEACOCK / RAY WHITE MAIDEN PLATE 1200 metres

DUTTON RANCH, raced greenly down the home straight.

SPANISH BEANS, having not raced since August 2021, underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection and was cleared to start. Proved difficult to load and began awkwardly.

HEAVEN BLESS, raced wide throughout.

ICE KITTEN, jumped out at the start and raced wide for the majority.

MISS BENEFITS. raced wide throughout.


Race 4: RAY WHITE RURAL LONGREACH / BARCALDINE OPEN Handicap 1200 metres

ZUCAZ, began awkwardly and race wide throughout. Approaching the 100 metres was bumped by ANCIENT ECHOES.

CHAPELCO, slow to begin and failed to show any speed throughout the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

NO REFUND, was held up behind QUART POT and RAPIDS over the concluding stages.

ANCIENT ECHOES, bumped with FINESSE TESS shortly after the start, over raced in the early stages and raced wide for the majority of the race. Approaching the 100 metres shifted out and bumped ZUKAZ.

QUART POT, proved very difficult to load.

FINESSE TESS, began awkwardly and bumped with ANCIENT ECHOES shortly after the start, blundered approaching the 1000 metres.

KALMAR, slow to begin.

TEST OF WAR, Trainer reported that TEST OF WAR had taken skin off the offside hind hock on the float enroute to the course. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.

RAPIDS, was fractious prior to the start, slow into stride and raced wide for the majority.


Race 5: RHYS PEACOCK / RAY WHITE BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1300 metres

SACRED STREAM, failed to show any early speed and raced wide from the 600 metres.

FROGED IN STONE, raced wide throughout.

MAHA MUSTANG, began awkwardly.

REALLY REALLY GOOD, began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride.

BITTERSWEET PLUCK, slow to begin and raced wide throughout.

TREBLA, raced wide throughout.

PORTABELLE, slow into stride.

RUN RAMPANT, began awkwardly.

CYCLONE DIVA, jumped out at the start.

TYPHOON TALAYAH, failed to show any early speed despite the efforts of the rider.


Race 6: RAY WHITE RURAL LONGREACH / BARCALDINE QTIS BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1600 metres

GYPSY BIKER, approaching the 1300 metres rider was forced to steady when NO STRINGS ducked in sharply.

TOWER ROAD (NZ), approaching the 100 metres was momentarily held up behind the tiring MORICONI and had to be switched to the inside of that runner.
Apprentice jockey Anna Bakos pleaded guilty to a charge under the terms of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100 metres, 1 more than permitted. Jockey Bakos was issued with a reprimand.

BRETON, slow to begin and failed to show any speed throughout the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

MURGANELLA, jumped out and bumped HIDDEN HILLS at the start, approaching the 1400 metres was momentarily tightened for room.

GRAND PALAZZO (NZ), jockey Jason Missen pleaded guilty under the terms of AR131(c) for making a celebratory gesture prior to him passing the winning post. When determining penalty stewards considered the excellent record of jockey Jason Missen in regards of this rule and his guilty plea. Jockey Missen was issued with a $100.00 fine.

MORICONI, raced wide early and when taken to the lead near the 1400 metres was unable to be restrained by the apprentice rider.

HIDDEN HILLS, was bumped by MURGANELLA at the start.

NO STRINGS, approaching the 1300 metres, despite the efforts of the rider, ducked in sharply from the middle of the track to the rail making, contact with the rail for some distance. Trainer Patrick O’Toole was advised a warning would be placed on NO STRINGS regarding its racing manners.

PRIZED ARTIST, fractious in the gates and reared high prior to the start, raced wide throughout.

CLAP CHAP, slow into stride.
