Race 1: PETER GARLAND & SONS BUILDERS MAIDEN PLATE 1100 M
 
 
ENCROACHMENT – Raced wide early before obtaining a one wide trailing position.
 
FELONIOUS – Jockey T Brummell reported that his mount was inclined to lay out in the home straight.
 
RIGHT ON RALPHY – Briefly inconvenienced near the 80m.
 
BRENT STREET – Slow into stride.
 
PRINCE TOBY – Raced wide throughout. Shifted outwards marginally under pressure near the 80m briefly inconveniencing RIGHT ON RALPHY.
 
LIL'S CHOICE – Slow to begin.
 
HERE'S HARRY – Shifted in under pressure near the 150m.
 
 
Race 2: CAPRICORN PLUMBING & BUILDING SUPPLIES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP - BASE RATING 50         1600 M
 
The start of this race was delayed due to Jockey A Bakos having to re-weigh after weighing out under her declared weight.
 
GYPSY BIKER – Laid in under pressure over the final 250m.
 
SHUT IT DOWN – Jumped in the air at the start and was slow to begin.
 
ALL HARD WOOD – Pulled hard in the early and middle stages when leading.
 
PHYLAVE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SIZZLESUN – Slow to begin. Jockey A Bakos was fined $200 under AR227(a) for negligently weighing out under her declared weight of plus 0.5 kilograms as notified.
 
 
Race 3: WESTERN PRODUCE CLASS 3 PLATE         1200 M
 
WITHOUT SHAME – Began awkwardly.
 
BIONIC – Slow to begin. Tightened for room near the 150m when racing between HIGHLAND EAGLE and VICTORY BAY (NZ), both which shifted ground marginally.
 
ELECTRIC SPIRIT – Restrained off heels near the 900m when over racing. Checked off the heels of ZOROSSA near the 150m.
 
HERE HE LOOMS – Slow to begin. Hung in and clipped the heels of HOT CHOCOLATE near the 150m.
 
VICTORY BAY (NZ) – Bumped at the start. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HIGHLAND EAGLE – Jumped outwards at the start bumping VICTORY BAY (NZ). Raced wide for the majority. Hung in over the final 100m.
 
ZIPPING IRISH – Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
Race 4: GBA CONSULTING ENGINEERS BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP - BASE RATING 35         1300 M
 
BEN STARS – Hung in under pressure near the 150m and tightened HOT ROD JACK for a number of strides before being corrected by its rider.
 
FANTWA – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout.
 
HOT ROD JACK – Tightened for a number of strides near the 150m.
 
BAUHINIA BEANS – Raced wide throughout.
 
DEEP UNDERCOVER – Raced wide throughout.
 
MACFARLANE (GB) – Slow to begin.
 
LOONEY TUNES – Slow to begin. Had difficulties obtaining clear room over the final stages and checked off heels near the 150m.
 
AUVERGNE – Altered course near the 150m after initially looking to progress between RED ZORRO and FANTWA, both of which shifted ground.
 
 
Race 5: BARCALDINE MEAT BARN OPEN HANDICAP - BASE RATING 72.5 1300 M
 
DEEP BREATH – When queried regarding the apparent improved performance, trainer B Johnson advised that in recent starts the gelding had proved most disappointing despite continuing to work well at training. The trainer added that the only explanation he could offer was that DEEP BREATH secured a soft conservative run close to the pace and the services of a senior rider who had previously ridden the horse in races and trackwork may have been a contributing factor.
 
ANCIENT ECHOES – Laid out under pressure over the final 300m.
 
CHECKERS (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
MUSIC AWARD – Jumped in the air at the start and then raced wide throughout.
 
COZHECANCAN – Slow to begin.
 
TOWER ROAD (NZ) – Slow to begin and then raced wide throughout.
 
POLICE (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 6: MICHAEL HORMAN TRANSPORT CLASS 6 PLATE      1000 M
 
ALGEROBA – Shifted in near the 900m when insufficiently clear of HIGHGROUND, resulting in that runner being checked.
 
KOSOWSKI – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
STRIKE POINT – Raced wide throughout.
 
FIELD OF ROSES – Slow to begin.
 
IN'HINCHABLE – Began awkwardly.
 
NO DEBT – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SOLE HEIR – Checked near the 900m.
 
HIGHGROUND – Checked near the 900m turn. Apprentice S Robbins (ALGEROBA) was found guilty of a charge under AR131(a) for carelessly allowing her mount to shift in near the 900m turn, resulting in HIGHGROUND being checked. The license to ride in races of Ms Robbins was suspended for 8 days to commence midnight 19 October 2023 and conclude midnight 27 October 2023.
 
BI TURBO – Checked near the 900m. Upon return to scale it was identified that the gelding had bled from both nostrils. Under AR79 was stood down for 3 months and a satisfactory 1000m gallop as it was a first offence.
 
DESIGNED TO RUN – Checked near the 900m.
 
 
Race 7: WESTERN GAME QTIS CLASS 1 HANDICAP - BASE RATING 44   1000 M
 
NOBEL – Jumped in the air at the start and was slow to begin. Trainer T Schofield advised that due to having raced on three occasions in nine days prior to arriving in her stable, the gelding was disappointing and would now be freshened up before resuming.
 
THANKS BRUCE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
MAHA MUSTANG – Raced wide throughout.
 
VALIANT JOAN – Raced wide throughout.
 
OUTBACK STEP – Slow to begin.
