QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BARCALDINE CLUBSATURDAY 8ST JUNE 2024 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – DIRT RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Stewards – S. Coulthard (Chair), K McKracken, P Anderson (Assistant) GENERAL Jockey J Missen was unable to attend today’s meeting due to injury. J Missen was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to riding again. Rider changes as per the stewards summary sheet. Race 1: MICHAEL HORMAN TRANSPORT CLASS B HANDICAP 1000M MR MEDIA – Eased down over the final stages. Jockey J Rudd reported the gelding felt flat and didn’t respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. BITONTHESIDE – Fractious prior to jumping. Jumped awkwardly bumping DEN END. Shortly after the start shifted in and away from DEN END resulting in the gelding racing very wide throughout. Approaching the 100m was hampered when DEN END shifted out to obtain clear racing room. Jockey B Richardson the rider of DEN END was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground in similar circumstances. DEN END – Inconvenienced on jumping when BITONTHESIDE shifted out, as a result was unable to muster early speed. Raced wide with cover throughout. ROCKMYDOLLAR – Stewards permitted jockey P Hamblin to ride at +.50kg, as there were no other riders available. Jockey Hamblin was reprimanded under AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Shortly after the start was momentarily forced wider then obliged to alter course to the inside when BLINDSIDE shifted in and away from DEN END. BLINDSIDE – Raced wide with cover. HOT ROD JACK – Jumped awkwardly, as a result was slow to begin. Race 2: GBA CONSULTING ENGINEERS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000M OAKFIELD TARGET- Buffeted at the start and lost ground between RELICTA and PLUMS AKIMBO, both of which shifted ground. Raced wide throughout. NEW YORK WORLD – Slow to begin. JUKEBOX LUCY(NZ) – Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. RELICTA – Raced wide with cover. SHADOWAY DRIVE – Raced wide throughout. DESIGNED TO RUN – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Race 3: UNION HOTEL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200M EDWARDS – Jumped awkwardly, as a result was slow to begin. Approaching the 1000m was restrained to avoid heels whilst over-racing. When questioned into the gelding’s performance, jockey B Richardson reported he seemed agitated in the mounting yard and fractious in the barrier which is out of character for the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. MISHANI CRUISE – W Satherley, rider of MISHANI CRUISE, was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 15th June up to and including 22nd June 2024 under AR132(7)(a)(ii)for use of the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m (16 in total). ATLANTIC LACE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. MISHANI PLATINUM – Bumped heavily on jumping. SNOWY ON THE TRAMS – Shifted out on jumping bumping heavily with MISHANI PLATINUM. WORTHY’S GIRL – Slow to begin. Race 4: CAPRICORN PLUMBING & BUILDING SUPPLIES BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200M ENTREPRENEURIAL – Jumped awkwardly, as a result was slow to begin. Raced wide with cover. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. JET PACK – Raced wide throughout. OAKLEIGH – Slow to begin. Race 5:BARCALDINE REGIONAL COUNCIL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200M Declaration of correct weight was delayed allowing rider, apprentice K Lenton of 2nd placegetter SHAGGY ROGERS, to view the available replays of the concluding stages. After viewing the footage K Lenton elected not to proceed with any protest. Correct weight was further delayed when connections of 2nd placed SHAGGY ROGERS lodged an objection in relation to the judge’s official numbers. After reviewing the photo finish image, stewards could not be comfortably satisfied on the evidence provided to them, that there was an identifiable margin between SHAGGY ROGERS and ELECTRIC SPIRIT, therefore acting under AR 214(4)(b) ordered that the placings be amended to a dead heat between SHAGGY ROGERS and ELECTRIC SPIRIT. Correct weight was declared on the following placings:1st SHAGGY ROGERS1st ELECTRIC SPIRIT3rd MORGAN’S SMILE4th KAZZA’S JET SHAGGY ROGERS – Laid in under pressure down the home straight. TIGER FOR LIFE – Jumped awkwardly. BUGDEN – Jumped awkwardly, as a result was slow to begin. Raced greenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. ELECTRIC SPIRIT – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. TRANSCELTIC - Stewards accepted the explanation put forward by trainer W Pugsley for the late rider declaration for the gelding. Race 6: BARCALDINE JUNIOR RUGBY LEAGUE QTIS CLASS 4 PLATE 1200M GALACTIC EXPRESS – Slow to begin. Tendency to lay in throughout. MONEY MUNCHER – Bounded in air on jumping. Race very wide throughout. TRANSCELTIC - Race very wide throughout. COUNTRY BOYZ – Slow to begin. KAZZA’S JET – Laid in down the home straight. MISHANI MYSTIQUE – Jumped awkwardly as a result was slow into stride. VAIN FOX – Slow to begin. IN AGREEMENT – Slow into stride. Race 7: WESTERN FREIGHT LINK 2024 BATTLE OF THE BUSH QUALIFIER OPEN HANDICAP 1200M DEEP BREATH – Slow to begin. COCHRANE – Over-raced in the early stages. MOST IMPRESSIVE(NZ) – Raced wide throughout. THE SQUIRE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages. THINK HIGH – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. MR CRUISE - Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. WORLD CHARMER(NZ) - When questioned into the mare’s performance, apprentice Z Squire could offer no explanation for the poor performance. Trainer, P O’Toole later advised he believed the mare had choked down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Race 8: ANDREW ROSS SHEARING BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1600M Start was delayed when PROUD WITH PRIDE proved difficult to load. Trainer, B Cavanough was advised a warning would be placed on the mare. JAKAMA – Jockey R Faehr replaced jockey B Richardson due to Ms Richardson being unable to ride the heavy weight after recently being unwell and had lost weight. Stewards accepted jockey Richardson’s explanation and no penalty was imposed. Jumped away awkwardly losing ground, laid in down the home straight. HERE HE LOOMS – Raced wide in the middle stages.FUSAICHI FAMILY – Slow to begin. Race 9: ROONEY'S RURAL CONTRACTORS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1600M FANTWA – Slow to begin. Approaching the 500m shifted wider to obtain clear racing room. ZELSON – Slow to begin. DAULAT MACHTIGKUDA – Held up for clear running from the 200m to 100m. AZOUSTIC – Raced wide early and middle stages. BRETON – Jumped awkwardly, as a result was slow to begin. When questioned, jockey P Hamblin could offer no explanation to the gelding’s poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. KING’S CONTRACT – Raced wide early. ANOTHER TOSSER – T Brummel, rider of ANOTHER TOSSER, was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 15th June up to and including 22nd June 2024 under AR132(7)(a)(ii)for use of the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m (20 in total).
