As apprentice Ms L. Dillon was injured prior to today’s meeting and unable to fulfil her engagements and ridding replacements were as per summary sheet.
 
 
Race 1: Baker O’Brien Toll Lawyers Class B H’Cap 850m
 
As no other rider was available Stewards permitted apprentice J. Hodge to ride SOLO MIO ½ kg above its allocated weight.
Stewards permitted the riders of SANDY STRAITS, BAR BABY AND MARREW MIA to ride their mounts ½ kg above their allocated weight.
 
CRAIGLEA PISTOL – Raced wide throughout
 
HONEY BABE – Began awkwardly and lost ground
 
MARREW MIA – Raced wide throughout
 
THAT PRETTY GIRL – Raced wide throughout
 
SAMUEL JAMES – Raced wide throughout
 
BAR BABY – Raced wide throughout
 
BELLA SONG – Began awkwardly and was tightened between runners shortly after the start
 
 
 
 
 
Race 2: Greg Whalley Dental Maiden Plate 1090m
 
CIMARRON KID – Injured en route to track and was declared a late scratching on vet’s advice at 12.20pm. Trainer M Bailey was advised that a veterinary certificate of soundness would be required before being permitted to start again.
 
CENTENARIO – Fractious in barriers and slow to jump
 
DAVEY – When questioned regarding the improved performance of the gelding rider S Bayliss explained that at its first start it began awkwardly and got caught wide back in the field and then resented the kickback. He said today with the addition of pacifiers the gelding began much better in a smaller field and obtained a position outside the leader without being overly pressured. Trainer Mr D Deans explained that the gelding has worked well in pacifiers and was confident of a better showing today. Stewards noted their explanations.
 
 
 
 
Race 3: Bull Financial Group Open H’Cap 1090m
 
JAMES IS BLONDE – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
SHOULDA TO SHOULDA – Post race trainer Mr K Munce reported to Stewards that the gelding lost the off fore heart bar plate during the race which may have had some bearing on its disappointing performance.
 
 
 
 
 
Race 4: Murchie Constructions Pty Ltd Benchmark 60 Handicap 1212m
 
Due to a severe storm approaching Stewards consulted with club officials and brought forward the starting time of this race to 2.55pm
 
FRENCH FLAME – Raced wide throughout.
 
BLAZE TO FORTUNE – Slow to muster speed and then raced wide after passing the 700m
 
SIMPLY SHOWTIME – Upon returning to scale the rider reported that the gelding failed to handle today’s track conditions.
 
 
 
 
Race 5: Spotted Dog Tavern Benchmark 50 Handicap 1380m
 
Due to an electrical storm looming the start of this race was brought forward to 3.20pm
 
BALINESE BOY – Slow to muster speed in the early stages.
 
EMMAROSE – Slow into stride.
 
SHOCKWAVE – Raced wide throughout.
 
DUAN THEO – Raced wide throughout
 
BYRON BABE – Raced wide after passing the 600m
 
JAMMO JACK – Raced in restricted room between runners passing the 900m.
 
BINESI – Raced greenly passing the 900m and shifted out slightly tightening JAMMO JACK.
 
Jockey P Romeo was issued with a severe reprimand regarding some inappropriate comments directed towards another rider during the race.
