Steindl RACE 1: LEARMONTH'S FOODWORKS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 850M OUTBACK LIGHTNING – Slow to begin. Made the home turn wide. CIMARRON KID – Rider reported at scales that the gelding resented the kickback, raced ungenerously with its head up in the early stages. LUSHNESS – Rider reported that the mare resented the kick back, raced ungenerously with its head up in the early stages. Taken wider in the home straight. MAMBO MISS – App. J. Hodge was reminded of his obligations to ride his mount out fully to the line. App. J. Hodge was reprimanded for use of whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. RACE 2: MULTIKRAFT QTIS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1090M Stewards declared BAR BABY a late scratching @8:30 when there was no available rider. WILD ELEMENT – Tightened between runners shortly after the start. BOXER – Post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. WORTH THE TIME – Hampered shortly after the start. DAVEY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey G. Steel (SEASHELLS) was fined $100 for use of whip more than 5 times prior to 100m. App. L. Dodds (TABRIZ) was reprimanded for use of whip more than 5 times prior to 100m. RACE 3: PERFECTION FRESH MAIDEN PLATE 1212M Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards and the judge to view video footage as the official photo finish camera malfunctioned. After reviewing the footage stewards and judge confirmed the placings. Prior to correct weight on returning to scale, Jockey K. Gates, the rider of SHADA PAREE, which placed 6th, weighed in less than what is permitted under the rule AR143(a). Stewards acting under that rule, therefore disqualified SHADA PAREE. In a subsequent inquiry it was established that Jockey K. Gates failed to wear her approved safety vest in the race. Jockey K. Gates pleaded guilty to a charge under AR.118C(c). Stewards when assessing penalty took into consideration the official placing which was 6th, Jockey Gates forthright evidence, that she had not been previously penalised under the particular rule and her guilty plea. Jockey K. Gates was fined $500. K. Gates fined $100 for use of whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. GEMIMA – Stood flat footed NIGHTS ABLAZE - Rider reported that the gelding did not handle its first start on a sand track. PRICKLETHORP – Slow to begin. Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages. Jockey C. Eaton (DREAMS OF MINTO) was fined $100 for use of whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. RACE 4: PACIFIC GOLD PATRON'S TROPHY OPEN HANDICAP 1212M MIDNIGHT CURFEW – Slow to begin. Inclined to lay in over the concluding stages. Jockey J. Hoopert (CLAIM THE THROWN) was issued a reprimand for use of whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
