QRIC Stewards Report BUNDABERG RACE CLUB: 4th May 2019Weather: Showers Track: Sand Rail: TrueStewards: K Daly (Chairman), P HoneywellStarter: B Steindel Clerk of Scales: M HoneywellJudge/Photo Finish Operator: K PimmVeterinarian: Dr K SchroederSCO: J Crompton General: As app S Wilcock was to claim only a portion of her allowance in Races 1, 2 and 4, and unable to claim any allowance in Race 3, Stewards, in consultation with connections of each runner, permitted app Wilcock to fulfil these engagements when no other apprentice rider was available. Further, app Wilcock was replaced as the rider of MAGESTICAL MAIDEN in Race 5 by app N Seymour. In the presence of trainer Mr D Reynolds app Wilcock was fined the sum of $100 under AR143(14)(a). In arriving at this decision Stewards took into account the limited number of riders attending today’s meeting and also personal submissions from trainer Mr D Reynolds representing app Wilcock. Following steady rain throughout the meeting minor remedial maintenance was carried out on a section of the track near the 350 metres prior to the running of Race 4. As a result of continuing inclement weather, Stewards in consultation with the club officials, amended the starting times of Races 4 and 5 as follows:Race 4: 3:30pmRace 5: 4:05pm Race 1: MAIDEN PLATE 1090 Metres BUCK’S ME BOY – laid out near the 800 metres and bumped the hindquarters of MISS NASTY which resulted in that runner becoming unbalanced. App S Wilcock was reprimanded for use of the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100 metres. QUATRO AMIGOS – on leaving the saddling enclosure and moving onto the course proper reared dislodging its rider. On arrival at the barriers QUATRO AMIGOS was examined by the club Vet and passed fit to start. App M Kennedy was uninjured and cleared to fulfil her engagement. Trainer D Gardiner was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s pre-race manners. MISS NASTY – near the 800 metres bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. Race 2: CLASS 2 PLATE 1090 Metres WARNERS LANDING – shifted out near 900 metres hampering MAMZAR. BRILLIANT MISTAKE – raced wide in the early and middle stages. MAMZAR – hampered near the 900 metres. When asked to comment on the below market performance rider K Gates stated the mare travelled fairly to the 700 metres however when placed under pressure from that point was disappointing. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off hind leg and abrasions to the off fore leg. Trainer C Vick was advised MAMZAR would require a Veterinary clearance prior to the mare’s next race start. MISS LITERATI – slow to begin. Race 3: CLASS B HDCP 1212 Metres The start of this event was delayed when the off fore plate of TARGETS had to be refitted. BIG SHAKA – slow to begin. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. LUCKY MACHU – slow to begin. RIVERINA GOLD – dislodged rider when proceeding to the barriers. Subsequently examined by Club Vet and cleared to start. Shifted in and tightened WINDQUEST near the 900 metres. Rider K Gates was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. WINDQUEST – slow to begin. Tightened near the 900 metres and had to be steadied. TOY MEEKA – declared a late scratching at 12:00pm when no suitable rider was available. FORGOTTEN FEELING – raced wide throughout. TRIPLE WON – raced wide throughout. Race 4: OPEN HDCP 1212 Metres MARKSFIELD – rider G Geran was fined the sum of $100 for use of the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100 metres. AL’S BRIEFS – App H Phillips was fined the sum of $100 for use of the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100 metres ALL HOST – knuckled on jumping and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. Race 5: BENCHMARK 60 HDCP 1600 Metres PERSISTENT SHADOW – slow to begin. Raced wide for majority of the event. RUBY RAY – raced wide for majority of the event.
