Race 1: BENCHMARK 55 HDCP 850 Metres
 
SEMI BLUE – as had not started for an extended period underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
SCARLET’S CHOICE – when asked to comment on below market performance rider J Missen stated from barrier one he was caught racing near the rails where in his opinion the sand surface was heavier than the going out wider on the track. Trainer N O’Toole concurred with the comments of J Missen, adding the mares’ best runs had been on turf.  
 
NOT TONIGHT DEAR – shifted in shortly after the start hampering FIRST BID.
 
FIRST BID – hampered shortly after the start. Raced 4 wide throughout.
 
FREEZE DE BEERS – rider reported the gelding, when racing back in the field, resented the sand kickback.
 
CRAIGLEA TOPAZ – jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
 
 
Race 2: OPEN HDCP 850 Metres
 
 BEL SELEVA – when asked to comment on the below market performance App H English stated the mare was first up after a ten-week break and in her opinion will benefit from todays run. A post-race Veterinary examination of BEL SELEVA revealed no abnormality. 
 
MORE WORDLY – bumped at the start.
 
BRAT ATTACK – rider R Faehr was fined $100 for use of the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100 metres.
 
ROSINCA – jumped out at the start. App H Phillips was fined $100 for use of the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100 metres.     

 
Race 3: MAIDEN PLATE 1090 Metres
 
HARBOUR SKIES – inclined to lay out shortly after the start.
 
ROCKSHORE – raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
CRAIGLEA KARLY – began awkwardly and lost ground at the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
CRAIGLEA MALACHI – jumped out at the start and raced ungenerously in the early stages. Raced wide for majority of the event.                      
 
Race 4: BENCHMARK 60 HDCP 1212 Metres
 
MAEVE IN MAN HATTAN – just prior to the start being effected lunged forward contacting the front barrier partition, and as a result was significantly slow to begin.
 
PRINCE MANITOU – slow to begin. Raced 4 wide for majority of the event.
 
WARNERS LANDING – raced 3 wide throughout.
 
LUCIFER’S ANGEL – Near the 900 metres hampered and lost ground when TOY MEEKA shifted in when not fully clear.
 
TOY MEEKA – rider M Cox was reprimanded for allowing the filly to shift in near the 900 metres hampering LUCIFER’S ANGEL.
 
 
Race 5: OPEN HDCP 1380 Metres
 
EXECUTED – laid in and contacted the running rail near the 1200 metres. Shifted in under pressure approaching the 150 metres momentarily crowding FAST THAN LIGHT. Rider J Missen was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. 
 
AL’S BRIEFS – raced 3 wide throughout App H Phillips was fined the sum of $200 for use of the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100 metres. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account App Phillips had been penalized for a similar breach of the whip rule in Race 2.
 
FASTA THAN LIGHT – jumped out at the start. Placed in restricted room and crowded near the 150 metres when EXECUTED shifted in when not fully clear.
 
STELLA’S DREAM – when asked to comment on the below market performance App H English stated the mare, which was having it’s first race start on a sand surface, travelled well in the lead to 600 metres however when placed under pressure failed to respond to her riding from that point onwards. App English added STELLA’S DREAM in her opinion had got it’s tongue over the bit and this was a significant factor in today’s disappointing performance. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
POWER FROM WITHIN – slow to begin.
 
ELUSIVE ELEMENT – tightened at the start. Raced 4 wide in the early and middle stages.
