QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION Race Day Stewards Report Bundaberg Race Club - Thoroughbreds Date: 1 February 2020 Track: Good Sand Weather: Fine Rail: True Entire Stewards Panel: B. Emery (Starter), J.Crompton (Swab Official) General The following horses were declared scratchings due to no rider being available:Race 3 - AIRPORT Race 1 – Quaite Electrical/Ulton Class B Handicap 850mThe start of this race was delayed when MISS LITERATI was declared a late scratching at the barriers at 1.29pm under veterinary advice. The mare was found to be lame in the off hind leg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to its next start. Stewards ordered that all monies invested prior on MISS LITERATI to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply for successful bets: 6c for the win7c place for first place8c place for second place BAUHINIA DRUM – Jockey L. Dillon reported that in her opinion the gelding may be lacking fitness and noted it was its first start over the shorter distance. MR FUJI – Shifted out slightly when approaching the 800m causing ROCKSHORE to steady and shift in to avoid improving onto heels. Raced 3 wide with no cover from that point. ROCKSHORE – Steadied and shifted in at the 800m to avoid improving onto heels. RUBY LIL – Raced 4 wide with no cover throughout. TARGETS – Raced wide throughout. Jockey H. Phillips reported that the mare raced greenly in the straight. Race 2 – Ron Finemore Transport Open Handicap 850mMORE WORDLY – Slow to begin. DAVE’S VALOR – Hung out rounding the home turn and shifted wider onto the track. BLUE JEST – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Raced 4 wide early and shifted in to a 3 wide position approaching the home turn to avoid DAVE’S VALOR. When questioned by Stewards regarding her riding tactics in the final 100m, Apprentice L. Dillon stated that the gelding to did not respond well when the whip was applied and on the first instance upon entering the home straight, the gelding shifted out abruptly and from that point she elected to ride hands and heels which she felt the gelding responded well to. She also noted that she felt that it would appreciate distances further than that of todays event. Stewards noted the explanation. Race 3 – Takalvans Ratings Band 0-50 Handicap 1090mEVE’S JET – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no significant findings. BENNELONG – Began awkwardly. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. AUSSIE TYCOON – Shifted out abruptly shortly after the start and raced 3 wide throughout. Jockey K. Gates reported that it was her intention to shift wider on the track in the earlier stages in an attempt to find better going. FIRST BID – Jockey H. Philllips reported that in her opinion the gelding resented the sand kick back. Jockey H.Phillips pleaded guilty under AR.132(7)(a)(ii) for excessive whip use prior to the 100m and was fined the sum of $100. MOUNTEBANK – Began awkwardly and shifted out shortly after the start. Raced ungenerously. Raced wide without cover. ATOMIC MISSILE – Began awkwardly. Raced 3 wide with cover in the early stages. QUEEN CONSORT – Inconvenienced near the 900m. Raced wide in the early stages. WILD ELEMENT – Raced 3 wide with no cover throughout. HAYLEE PRINCE – Raced wide with no cover throughout. Race 4 – Christensen Industries Maiden Plate 1090mMARREW RONNIE was declared a late scratching by Stewards at 1.44pm when the mare cast a fore shoe and was unable to be replated by the on course farrier. Subsequently the mare was declared a late scratching by Stewards at 1.44pm prior to bets being placed. The start was delayed when HOPEFUL SUN became fractious and unruly in the mounting yard and was declared a late scratching at 3.30pm after refusing to proceed to the barriers and dislodging its rider twice. Trainer W.Melvin was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding regarding its pre-race manners. Jockey N. Summers was examined by QAS and was cleared to fulfil her remaining engagements. Stewards ordered that all monies invested prior on HOPEFUL SUN to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply for successful bets: 23c for the win18c for place bets DEXTER’S COMMAND – Raced wide throughout. AWASE DAZZLER – Raced 3 wide with no cover. When questioned about the below market performance Jockey H. English noted that it was the mares first start over the longer distance and it may appreciate distances longer than that of todays event. Stewards noted her explanation. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. THE ORANGE MUPPET – Shifted out shortly after the start and inconvenienced OMNIA TIDAK TAKUT. Raced wide without cover. OMNIA TIDAK TAKUT –Began awkwardly and shifted out. Shortly after was inconvenienced and shifted wider on the track. Bumped when entering the home straight. SENTEIN – Began awkwardly. Was hampered upon jumping by OMNIA TIDAK TAKUT and then continued to shift wider. Hung out slightly rounding the home turn and bumped OMNIA TIDAK TAKUT upon straightening. SENATOR ELECT - Began awkwardly, made contact with the outside barrier partition and was slow into stride. Race 5 – Sambrett Homes Ratings Band 0-60 Handicap 1212m DIA VERNON – Shortly after the start was steadied and elected to shift wider to find clear running. Raced 4 wide without cover. SUZI BEL – Jumped awkwardly. Jockey H.Phillips reported that she was disappointed with the run and felt that the mare may have resented the sand kickback. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare had poor post-race recovery. WARNERS LANDING – Jumped away awkwardly and slow into stride. Raced 3 wide without cover. Apprentice I. Rabjones was reprimanded under AR.132(7)(a)(ii) for excessive whip use prior to the 100m. When considering penalty, Stewards took into consideration Apprentice Rabjones good record and that she has only been race riding for a short amount of time.
