QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BUNDABERG RACE CLUB – TUESDAY 19 MAY 2020 WEATHER – FINETRACK – SANDRAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – E. BarronStewards – R. Hitchener, B. McErleanClerk of Scales – B. McErleanJudge – A. NassoVeterinarian – Dr K. SchroederSwab Collection Official – E. HodgesStarter – B. Steindl GENERAL The following horses were declared late scratchings at 8:00 am due to no rider being available: Race 1. REAL FOXY LADY Race 6. YEAH THE BOYS FIELD HELMET Race 1: RUM CITY FOODS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1090M WAMIAD ALDAW, which sustained lacerations to the off hind leg whilst being loaded onto the float, was a late scratching at 10:30 am. Trainer T. Back was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, H. Richardson, the rider of MR NODDY, made application to have her mount declared a non-starter, claiming that it had been denied a fair start. After viewing the patrol footage and hearing submissions, stewards established that although MR NODDY was somewhat fractious prior to the start being effected, it was solely the horse’s barrier manners that may have affected its ability to jump on terms with other runners and therefore did not believe that the grounds put forward by jockey Richardson warranted the gelding being declared a non-starter. FLUGLE – Fractious during transport, underwent a veterinary examination after arriving on course and was passed fit to start. Bumped by another runner at the start. MR NODDY – Fractious prior to the start being effected, began awkwardly and bumped another runner. DATAI – Slow to begin. STRYKING MAID – M. Schrapel reported that his mount hung out in the early stages. Race 2: XXXX GOLD OPEN H'CAP – 1380M DAUNTING QUEEN – Apprentice S. Stephan reported that the mare travelled comfortably throughout, however, when placed under pressure failed to respond. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Race 3: 7NEWS BENCHMARK 55 H'CAP – 1380M The start of this race was delayed when SIP SIP SIP refused to load and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2:35 pm. Trainer K. Hill was advised that two consecutive barrier certificates would be required prior to SIP SIP SIP racing again. MOMENTUM GLORY – When questioned, G. Steele could offer no explanation for the horse’s disappointing performance other than that the increase in distance of today’s event as well as the additional weight impost may have been contributing factors. LUCKY MACHU – Slow to begin. ELUSIVE ELEMENT – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. Race 4: THE WAVES SPORTS CLUB BENCHMARK 60 H'CAP – 1212M BIG SHAKA – Barrier gate was slightly slow to open. Tightened for room shortly after the start. KENTFORD – Barrier gate was slightly slow to open. Tightened for room shortly after the start. When questioned in relation to the horse’s disappointing performance, G. Steele explained that after receiving tightening shortly after the start her mount settled further back than anticipated and resented the kickback. She added that the step up in distance today may have also been a contributing factor. MAHRATTA – Tightened for room shortly after the start. CRISSCROSS – Began awkwardly and shifted in, tightening runners to the inside. Race 5: IRON JACK OPEN H'CAP – 850M JEMADAR – Began awkwardly and lost ground. HAVASHOUT – H. Phillips reported that the gelding was not entirely comfortable on the sand track and may be better suited to grass tracks. SNEAKY SNIPER – Apprentice A. Bakos reported that her mount hung in from the 600m to the 400m. SENKO SIDRA – Stewards acceded to the request of trainer G. Richardson to race the mare without its hind plates. Race 6: BUNDY DIESEL SPECIALISTS BENCHMARK 50 H'CAP – 1090M The start of this race was delayed slightly when the tongue-tie on TEDDER EXPRESS had to be adjusted behind the barriers. ROCKSHORE – Fractious prior to the start being effected and on jumping away G. Steele’s left stirrup iron became undone, resulting in her losing the use of both irons and placing her at a significant disadvantage throughout the event. SANJAY – Began awkwardly. TEDDER EXPRESS – Barrier gate was slightly slow to open. ATOMIC MISSILE – Blundered on jumping and lost ground.
