GENERAL
 
As G. Steele was not riding due to illness, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Steele will require a medical clearance prior to resuming riding.
 
Race 1: 7NEWS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1090M
 
The start of this race was delayed due to the late arrival on course of ambulance officers.
 
BLUE LANYARD – Jumped awkwardly. Had to be steadied shortly after the start when tightened between LITTLE VULPINE, which shifted out, and TOY WHITTY, which shifted in.
 
CHILD SUPPORT – Shifted in momentarily near the 900m, hampering PRESTISSIMO, and shortly after had to be steadied from the heels of SOX ROCKS, which shifted out.
 
EIGHT LETTERS – Shifted out shortly after the start and made contact with KITTY KAT’S KITTEN.
 
PRESTISSIMO – Taken in by CHILD SUPPORT near the 900m.
 
SOX ROCKS – Shifted out abruptly leaving the 900m, inconveniencing CHILD SUPPORT. H. Phillips reported that her mount raced greenly throughout
 
MAJIANG – Steadied near the 900m when placed in restricted room to the inside of PRESTISSIMO, which was taken in by CHILD SUPPORT.
 
KRUPT AS ‘ER – Weakened from the 600m. Returned to the enclosure making an abnormal respiratory noise. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer W Melvin advised that they will experiment with the use of a different noseband.
 
LITTLE VULPINE – Jumped awkwardly.
 
MISS TAYLOR – Raced wide throughout.
 
TOY WHITTY – Shifted in shortly after the start, tightening BLUE LANYARD.
 
KITTY KAT’S KITTEN – Inconvenienced shortly after the start when EIGHT LETTERS shifted out.
 
Race 2: IRON JACK BENCHMARK 65 H'CAP – 850M
 
As a result of the delay to the start of Race 1, the start of this race was also delayed.
 
ARARRAC – On jumping away the saddle slipped, resulting in the gelding being slow into stride and placing the rider at a disadvantage.
 
ROYAL EQUIANO – Slow to begin. Raced three wide.
 
BELZU – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
Race 3: THE WAVES SPORTS CLUB RATINGS BAND 0 – 50 H'CAP – 850M
 
EL NINO’S CHOICE – Raced wide throughout.
 
HEZAGIGOLO – Jumped awkwardly and shifted in, bumping BAUHINIA DRUM.
 
ROCKSHORE – Raced wide throughout. When question in regards to the seemingly improved performance Trainer K Afford stated that the geldings most recent start, the jockey lost the use of her irons as the start was affected, which place the gelding at disadvantage. He also stated that the start prior on this track this the gelding preformed creditably and therefore was not surprised by the horse’s performance today.
 
SALTY’S BOY – Raced wide throughout.
 
BAUHINIA DRUM – Bumped on jumping and lost ground. Resented the kickback approaching the 600m and shifted wider.
 
Race 4: BUNDABERG MARINELAND OPEN H'CAP – 1212M
 
FAB’S COWBOY – Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and bumped MINOAN SPIRIT. Raced wide throughout.
 
DAUNTING QUEEN – Bumped on jumping by MINOAN SPIRIT, which was taken in by FAB’S COWBOY. Stewards questioned apprentice I. Teh regarding the horse’s seemingly disappointing performance. Apprentice Tey stated that after being slow to begin the mare, in her opinion, resented the kickback whilst following the field and proved disappointing. A post race veterinary inspection found the mare had evidence of the sand kick back in its respiratory system resulting in a post-race cough.
 
TEN TAUBADA’S – Raced wide throughout. Stewards questioned jockey L. McCoy regarding the horse’s disappointing performance. Jockey McCoy stated that her mount was under pressure from the 500m when runners to her outside improved and the gelding failed to respond to her riding for the remainder of the event.
 
GRANDE CASADORA – Rider K. Gates reported that after beginning well her mount was able to obtain a more forward position, which is in contrast to its previous start where the horse had missed the start and raced wide throughout the event.
 
MINOAN SPIRIT – Jumped awkwardly and was tightened between runners.
 
Race 5: XXXX GOLD RATINGS BAND 0 – 60 H'CAP – 1212M
 
NINE CIGARS – Jumped awkwardly, making heavy contact with the outside barrier partition, and lost ground, resulting in the gelding racing wide in the early stages to make up ground until being obliged to shift extremely wide to obtain clear running and finished off the race well.
 
JOE ALBERT – Had to be steadied shortly after the start when tightened for room between BELASTRO, which shifted out, and KENTFORD, which laid in.
 
CRISSCROSS – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure up the straight.
 
RED HEAVY – Jumped with its head in the air and lost ground.
 
SHE’S ON POINT – Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with BROOKVILLE. Commenced to weaken approaching the 600m. Jockey B. Newport reported that his mount failed to respond to his riding from the 600m.
 
WARNERS LANDING – Raced wide throughout.
 
BROOKVILLE – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 6: MELBOURNE HOTEL BUNDABERG BENCHMARK 50 H'CAP – 1380M
 
LUCKY MACHU – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. Trainer M. Lewis was advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding.
 
GAMBIT – Raced wide throughout.
 
MIA SINGA – Jumped awkwardly.
 
YEAH THE BOYS – Raced wide throughout.
 
LIFE BE IN IT - Trainer S.D. Paoli was fined $100 under the provisions of AR99 for failing to produce the identification card for the gelding.
