Race 1: BYRON BAY BREWERY MAIDEN PLATE 1090M
 
MAJIANG – raced wide throughout.
 
MARMION – shifted out abruptly at the start. Raced greenly throughout the home straight.
 
CALL ME BEL – checked shortly after the start when MARMION shifted outwards.
 
CELEBRATING – begun awkwardly and was slow to begin. Raced wide through the early and middle stages. Lay outwards near the 150 metres.
 
CRAIGLEA CLINKERS – was reluctant to load with a warning being placed on the filly’s barrier manners.
 
 
Race 2: JAMES SQUIRE BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1090M
 
SHENZI – was slow to begin and failed to muster any early speed. Trainer D Gardiner advised that SHENZI would now be sent for a spell.
 
KRUGER – was awkwardly placed on the heels of ON THE TWEED near the 150m mark and had to shift ground outwards to obtain clear running.
 
MISS READY NOW - On returning to scale, Apprentice rider J Molloy was in excess of 0.5kg of the weight he was required to carry. J Molloy admitted a breach of Rule AR211(1) and was fined $200.
 
DUKATTI – improved wide through the middle stages
 
TORTUGA – gave ground over the concluding stages. Trainer S Parsons advised TORTUGA would be sent for a spell.
 
 
Race 3: XXXX DRY OPEN HANDICAP 1090M
 
ALL EEZ – slow to begin and raced wide through the early stages.
 
GRANDE CASADORA – raced wide throughout.
 
FALAEB – raced wide with cover.
 
THE OLD BIRD (NZ) – began awkwardly and shifted inwards abruptly.
 
AIRLIE MAN – bumped on jumping.
 
MAGIC PANTHER – shifted outwards at the start bumping with another runner.
 
 
Race 4: IRON JACK CLASS B HANDICAP 1212M
 
SUPALUX – slow to begin and raced wide throughout.
 
HOMECALL – lunged at the gates prior to the start. Improved wide during the middle stages. Was examined by the veterinarian after returning to the mounting yard with blood present in its mouth. The examination revealed the gelding to have suffered a minor laceration to the inside of its mouth which was consistent with it striking the starting gates.
 
DUAN PHOENIX – raced wide throughout. Raced in restricted room near the 350m.
 
MIA SINGA – dipped at the start. Raced wide through the early and middle stages. Apprentice S Stephan was reprimanded for using her whip when her mount was out of contention pursuant to Rule AR132(6)(c).
 
 
Race 5: XXXX GOLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1380M
 
MAHRATTA – laid inwards over the final stages.
 
GAMBIT – was slow to begin and raced wide through the early and middle stages.
 
ELUSIVE ELEMENT - examined by the veterinarian pre-race after contacting the fence upon leaving the mounting yard and was cleared to race.
 
PEXBURY AVENUE – permission was granted for rider J Missen to ride PEXBURY AVENUE 0.5kg over its allocated weight. Slow to begin
 
SERRIANO – raced wide throughout.
