Race 1: RON FINEMORE TRANSPORT MAIDEN PLATE 1090M
 
Correct weight was delayed until the connections of the second placed BLUE BOY MCCOMBE had viewed a replay of the concluding stages. After viewing the replays they didn’t wish to proceed with an objection and correct weight was declared.
 
TRUE TALLY – Slow to begin.
 
HALOHAYLEY – Apprentice rider S Stephan reported the mare hung inwards throughout.
 
SCARAB – Was subject to a pre-race veterinary examination after racing twice within the previous week and was cleared to race. Impeded at the start by CELEBRATING which shifted ground outwards. Raced wide throughout. Bumped with CELEBRATING approaching the 200m mark. Apprentice rider R Wilson admitted a breach of AR132(5) in that she used her whip 26 times in totality and was suspended for a period of seven days from midnight the 30th of January 2021 to midnight the 6th of February 2021.
 
CELEBRATING – Shifted ground outwards at the start impeding SCARAB. Bumped with SCARAB near the 200m.
 
CRAIGLEA COURTNEY- Rider C McIver advised in his opinion the filly failed to handle the sand track conditions.
 
Race 2: LIVINGSTONE LOW ELECTRICAL CLASS B HANDICAP 1090M
 
MAJIANG – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice rider R Wilson dropped her whip near the 100m.
 
TINY LEE – Bumped with ROCKSURE near the 300m. Rider S Lacy was fined $500 for a breach of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m two more than permitted.
 
AGENT ALBERT – Raced wide throughout.
 
CLUSTERFEST – Failed to muster any early speed despite the urgings of apprentice S Stephan. S Stephan advised the gelding objected to the sand and failed to stretch out over the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed CLUSTERFEST was sore in both front fetlocks. Trainer L Kiernan was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to it’s next start.
 
ROCKSURE – Jumped away awkwardly. Bumped with TINY TEE at the 300m.
 
 
Race 3: MRH LAWYERS OPEN HANDICAP 1090M
 
TEN TAUBADA’S – Shifted inwards at the start impeding the inside runners
 
WILD ELEMENT – Cleared to race after undergoing a pre-race veterinary examination due to racing within the previous week. Impeded at the start.
 
GOSSIAUX – Impeded at the start. Raced wide through the early and middle stages.
 
 
Race 4: SUNSHINE MITRE 10 RATINGS BAND 0 – 65 HANDICAP 1212M
 
LUCKY MACHU – Stood flat footed and was very slow to begin before improving wide mid race. A warning was placed on the barrier manners of the gelding.
 
PAT’S GIRL – Raced wide during the middle stages.
 
 
 
Race 5: TAKALVANS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1380M
 
JOE ALBERT – Slow to begin
 
BRIGHTON TOFF – Slow to begin and raced wide throughout.
 
ELUSIVE ELEMENT – Slow to begin. Improved wide middle stages. Apprentice rider S Stephan elected to shift wide in the home straight to obtain better track conditions
 
MOMENTUM GLORY – Tailed off over the concluding stages. Rider N Morton advised the gelding lost a off fore plate during the running. When questioned regarding the geldings disappointing performance she advised in her opinion MOMENTUM GLORY failed to handle the heavier conditions closer to the rail. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
