Correct weight was delayed when R Faehr, rider of fifth placegetter MAHRATTA requested to view the patrol films to ascertain whether he had grounds to lodge a protest against the 4TH placegetter GOSSIAUX ridden by Apprentice Shannan Stephan. After viewing the stewards’ patrol footage, 5th placegetter R Faehr (MAHRATTA), lodged an objection against GOSSIAUX being declared the winner alleging interference at the 150m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the patrol footage, it was established that near the 150m, GOSSIAUX laid in under pressure and brushed MAHRATTA. However, as Stewards could not be satisfied that the degree of the interference was greater than the margin separating both runners at the finish of the event, Stewards dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the Judge’s placings.
