Trainer L Wanless pleaded guilty to a breach of AR251(1)(a)(ii) in that he had possession of a prohibited substance on course. Taking into consideration penalty submissions and previous precedents Mr Wanless was fined $500. Race 1: MASTERFOODS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 850 metres BITTERGREYMAGIC – Raced wide throughout. Laid outwards in the home straight. MORE THAN LIKELY – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the mare’s performance rider R Wilson advised it failed to respond to her riding and disappointed. The mare was subject to a post-race veterinary examination which failed to detect any abnormalities. OYASHIO – Slow to begin. GLAM ROCK (NZ) – Slow to muster early speed. Raced wide throughout. Race 2: NEW AGE CARAVANS BUNDABERG BENCHMARK 45 Handicap 1090 metres SETLIN SAGE – Raced wide throughout. Shifted ground outwards near the 500m when crossed over by DUKATTI. ALL GAIN – Slow to begin. DUKATTI – Raced wide throughout. MERGE (IRE) – Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards in the home straight. ROCKSHORE – Reared at the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the starting manners of the gelding.Rider S Stephan advised she had stuck her knee on the barriers at the jump. She was examined by QAS and cleared to take her remaining rides. Race 3: SIMPLOT OPEN Handicap 1090 metres FAB'S COWBOY – Laid out in home straight. AMERICAN GENIUS – Raced three wide throughout. DOLCI – Slow over the early stages. CRISSCROSS – Laid outwards making the bend approaching the 300m. S Stephan was fined $300 for a breach of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m two more than permitted. WALSHIE – Raced wide throughout. Race 4: RUM CITY FOODS QTIS Maiden Plate 1090 metres The start of this race was delayed for approximately five minutes after GOLD CHANCE refused to load and several other runners were reluctant to load. CLAIRVUE JET – Hampered at the start. Raced wide for the majority of the race. DAMN PHENOMENAL – Hampered on jumping. RISING MIST – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. GOLD CHANCE – Refused to load and was declared a late scratching at 3.50pm. Trainer W Baker was advised the gelding was stood down to complete a satisfactory barrier trial. All monies invested on GOLD CHANCE were ordered to be refunded and the following deductions applied on successful wagers placed prior to 3.50pm;Winner – MEGLIO – 6c win 7c placeSecond – ZAKHEERA – 6c placeThird – GOD’S ANGEL – 8c place MEGLIO – Raced wide over the early and middle stages. GOD'S ANGEL – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice M Philpot was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on six occasions prior to the 100m one more than permitted. ZAKHEERA – Raced wide throughout. CANTOR – Was declared a late scratching at 3.41pm after refusing to parade to the start. Trainer D Rideout was advised CANTOR is required to complete a satisfactory trial prior to resuming racing. All monies invested onCANTOR were ordered to be refunded and the following deductions applied on all monies on successful wagers placed prior to 3.41pm;Winner – MEGLIO – 6c win 7c placeSecond – ZAKHEERA – 6c placeThird – GOD’S ANGEL – 8c placeDUAL INSTINCT – Shifted outwards at the start. Finished tailed off with a subsequent veterinary examination failing to detect any abnormalities. METALLIC REIGN – Rider C McIver was reprimanded under AR184(b)(iii) for weighing out without the breast plate. Stewards took into account the circumstances of the breach where they were satisfied Mr McIver was a lightweight rider who was not attempting to manipulate the weight he was carrying and he notified Stewards to advise of the failure to add the breast plate to his gear. Race 5: PACIFIC WEST BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1212metres ROYAL SHEEN – Fractious in barrier prior to jump. Raced wide throughout. I'M THE BUSINESS (NZ) – Shifted inwards at the jump. BLONDE'S DAY OUT – Hampered on jumping. Raced wide throughout. SHENZI – Was examined pre-race by the veterinarian due to not having raced within the previous 12 months and was cleared to race. BOLD ADMIRAL – Hung outwards on the bend approaching the 300m. There was a delay in correct weight after rider of fourth placed BOLD ADMIRAL G Steele wished to view a photo of the finish. Correct weight was subsequently declared on the judge’s placings. Race 6: SAFRIES BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1380 metres TICINO BELLE – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance rider A Spinks advised the Stewards he believed the heavy weight the mare carried effected its performance. HOMECALL – Raced wide throughout. RAPID EAGLE (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid outwards early stages. Finished tailed off. Rider H Richardson advised the Stewards the gelding was making abnormal breathing noises. A Subsequent veterinary examination failed to detect any abnormalities. Stewards intend to follow up with trainer D Tunnah regarding the recovery of the gelding. TOY WHITTY – Raced wide throughout. BUNDOORA – Slow to begin. Shifted off heels shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout the event. ELUSIVE ELEMENT – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. ROCKET RYAN – Steadied off heels approaching the 800m.
