EMPEROR TEIO (Race 5) and COURTINGROCK (Race 6) were declared late scratchings by order of Stewards at 11:10am due to a float breakdown.
 
BLUE SMARTIE (Race 4) was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 11:25am when the horse refused to load on the float to be transported to the track.
 
Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reason for medication brought onto the racecourse precinct by trainer P Blackwell to a time and date to be fixed.
 
Race 1 – Benchmark 60  Handicap (850 METRES)
 
WANDER – Slow to begin.
 
I AM FEARLESS – Lost ground when crowded shortly after the start between BALUT which laid in and DAUNTING PRINCESS which was taken out by FAV’S FLYER.
 
DAUNTING PRINCESS – Raced wide throughout.
 
FAV’S FLYER – Laid out shortly after the start. N Summers, rider of 5th placegetter FAV’S FLYER, was reminded of her obligations under AR131(b) to ride her mounts out fully to the end of the race.  
 
ASHERLA – Raced wide throughout. Shifted wider rounding the home turn.
 
BALUT – Inclined to lay in throughout the event.Raced wide throughout.
 
GRACIEDE – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice T Leslight, rider of GRACIEDE, was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m, 3 more than permitted.
 
SIR JOHNY – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost ground. Trainer S Mesken was advised a warning would be placed on the horse’s barrier manners.
 
 
Race 2 – Open Handicap 1212 METRES)
 
MOUNT HOREB – After beginning on terms with the field was slow to muster speed in the early stages of the event.
 
ALATAR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide for the majority of the race.Following the event rider N Thomas was examined by QAS staff and cleared to fulfill his remaining engagements.
 
DAUNTING WARRIOR – Apprentice S Willis, rider of DAUNTING WARRIOR, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.
 
GOSSIAUX – Began awkwardly.When asked to comment on the performance rider R Wilson reported the horse failed to respond to her riding when placed under pressure from the 600m and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
 
Race 3 – Class 2Handicap (1212 METRES)
 
COCHRANE – Jumped in at the start.
 
QUEENSLANDER – Crowded at the start and lost ground. Rider N Thomas reported the horse failed to handle the sand track conditions.
 
TOY BLAZE – After leading the event weakened from the 600m. Trainer L Peterson advised the horse had worked well leading into today’s event however had previously disappointed when racing on the Bundaberg sand track.
 
GOLDE ATHENA – Slow to begin.Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
CHAMPION PARADE – Adam Spinks, rider of CHAMPION PARADE, was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m, 3 more than permitted.
 
CONAIR – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
Race 4 - Benchmark 50 Handicap (1380 METRES)
 
TONTEIN – Hung in under pressure in the home straight.Raced wide for the majority of the event. M Potgieter, rider of TONTEIN, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.
 
FASTNET JACK – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
DOVI’S DAY – Bumped at the start. On pulling up following the event rider J Doolan dismounted from DOVI’S DAY after becoming distressed, was examined by QAS staff and cleared to fulfill her remaining engagements. Stewards acting under AR208(3)(b) declared correct weight when J Doolan was unable to weigh in in a timely manner.
 
ALL DASH – When asked to comment on the performance rider K Gates reported the horse was not entirely comfortable on the sand track when placed under pressure adding that the ALL DASH was making a respiratory noise on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Trainer G Hayes advised it now would be his intention to add a tongue tie to the horse’s race approved gear.
 
CADOUIN – Began awkwardly. At the entrance to the home straight shifted to the inside of COME CLEAN to secure clear running and in doing so crowded FEND OFF. Apprentice R Wilson, rider of CADOUIN, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.  Raced wide for the majority of the event. Rebecca Wilson, rider of CADOUIN, was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.
 
FEND OFF – Jumped in at the start and bumped DOVI’S DAY. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SUNSOUTGUNSOUT – Slow to begin. Rider S McGovern lost use of the nearside rein shortly after the start placing him at some disadvantage for some distance thereafter. Raced wide for the majority of the event. S McGovern, rider of SUNSOUTGUNSOUT, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.

 
Race 5 – Maiden Plate (1090 METRES)
 
MADANCER – Raced wide for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off foreleg. Trainer L Clem was advised the horse would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
MR TANGLES – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
ROCK DREAMER – Jumped in at the start and bumped DRAGON CLAWS.
 
VICTORY LIGHTS – Jumped in at the start and bumped ANGEL ABOVE.Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
BIT OF FUN – Crowded on jumping and lost ground.
 
DRAGON CLAWS – Bumped at the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be displaying symptoms of colic and was treated on course. Trainer A Briskey was advised DRAGON CLAWS would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
ANGEL ABOVE – Bumped at the start. Laceration to the off foreleg. Trainer L Clem was advised the horse would require veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
THE STORM – As had not started for an extended period, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, and was cleared to start. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
FITZROY PLAIN – Began awkwardly resulting in apprentice L O’Donnell becoming unbalanced for a short distance.Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
Race 6 - Benchmark 455 Handicap (1090 METRES)
 
DAULAT MACHTIGNAGA – Declared a late scratching at 2:33pm when the horse was fractious when being transported to the track and became agitated in the tie up stalls on arrival on course.  DAULAT MACHTIGNAGA received treatment from the veterinary surgeon prior to leaving the track. Trainer P Blackwell indicated the horse would now be leaving his stable however nonetheless was advised DAULAT MACHTIGNAGA must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
 
MAVERICK HENRY – When asked to comment on the performance rider S Willis reported the horse travelled comfortably to the home turn, however when placed under pressure in the home straight was disappointing. A post-race examination revealed a minor laceration the off-hind leg. Trainer D Gardiner could offer no explanation for the performance and gave an undertaking to report back any condition which may come to light in the coming days.
 
BATTLE – After being slow to begin unable to muster speed in the early and middle stages of the event. When asked to comment on the overall performance rider Adam Spinks stated the horse was not suited by the fast early pace of the race however when placed under pressure in the home straight finished the event off strongly, adding that BATTLE is better suited to races over a longer distance than that of today.  
 
RODIAN BULL – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Rebecca Wilson, rider of RODIAN BULL, was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted.
 
TOY WHITTY – Passing the 200m shifted out under pressure resulting in SILVAPLANA being obliged to alter course to the inside. M Potgieter reported TOY WHITTY may not have been suited by the addition of pacifiers today.
 
BORNEES LAD – Jumped in at the start.
 
CUTTING LOOSE – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SCRUFF’N’STUFF – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SILVAPLANA – Jumped out at the start.
 
LOUD ATTRACTION – Crowded on jumping between SILVAPLANA and BORNEES LAD
