Race 1: THE LUMP CLASSIC (PACIFIC WEST) MDN PLT - 1090M

CHARGRILL – Raced wide in the early stages. Apprentice N. Olzard reported that her mount failed to handle the track conditions today.

DAULAT MACHTIGKUDA – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

PAULI – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

JERIDAH – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages.

LITTLEMISSCANCAN – Shifted out on jumping bumping DAULAT MACHTIGUKDA. Apprentice S. Willis was fined $300 for using her whip 7 times prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted under AR132(7)(a)(ii).

NATIVE BEAUTY – Slow to begin.

WE GIRLS – Near the 900m had to be steadied when BEATLEMANIA shifted in marginally. Jockey M. Butler (BEATLEMANIA) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Hung out in the home straight on several occasions placing its rider Apprentice B. Moffat at a disadvantage.


Race 2: STEGGLES BM45 HCP- 1090M

ROCK DREAMER (NZ) – Shifted in abruptly upon jumping making contact with TRUE TALLY. Raced wide throughout in an attempt to avoid the kickback.

THE STORM – Bumped with the hindquarters of CAPITAL MEG shortly after jumping. Hung out rounding the home turn.

GOSSIAUX – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.

SETLIN SAGE – Raced wide throughout.

CAPITAL MEG – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

YES NO MAYBE SO – Raced wide throughout.

TRUE TALLY – Crowded shortly after the start and had to be restrained losing ground as a result.


Race 3: RUM CITY FOODSERVICES 'FRESH FRUIT & VEGETABLES' OPEN HCP – 1212M

MOCIAL CHIEF – Knuckled on jumping.

MISTER LARRABEE – Stood flatfooted as the start was affected (5L). Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that a further warning would be placed upon the gelding’s record.

MORETON BAY – Raced wide throughout.


Race 4: RUM CITY FOODS QTIS C3 PLT - 1090M

TRAITORS' GATE – Near the 1000m, was bumped by QUEENSLANDER and was carried inwards, bumping the hind quarters of MARTINI MOMENT.

ETHELDA – Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

CITY CHICK – Commenced to buck shortly after the start and shifted in abruptly, crowding multiple runners and dislodged Apprentice S. Willis. Apprentice Willis was assessed by the on-course QAS Officers and was cleared to fulfill her remaining engagements. Trainer M. Bailey was advised that CITY CHICK would be required to trial prior to its next future race start.

MARTINI MOMENT – Near the 1000m, was bumped on the hind quarters by TRAITOR’S GATE which was carried in. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

BICEPS – Fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Bumped on jumping by MARTINI MOMENT which shifted out. Shortly after the start, was severely crowded and checked due to CITY CHICK bucking which resulted in the runner losing considerable ground and taking no competitive part in the event.

QUEENSLANDER – Near the 1000m, was severely hampered and carried in bumping with another runner after CITY CHICK had shifted in abruptly after it commenced to buck.


Race 5: DEVONDALE BM55 HCP - 850M

DONE IT AGAIN – Jumped away awkwardly.

POTENT VIEW – Bumped with FITZROY PLAIN shortly after the start. Had to shift out wider for clear racing room to avoid racing onto the heels of NINE CIGARS near the 800m.

DAUNTING PRINCESS – Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

NINE CIGARS – Raced wide throughout.

RISING SPIRIT – After shifting out, had to shift in to avoid racing onto the heels of DAUNTING PRINCESS near the 200m. Laid out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

FITZROY PLAIN – Bumped with POTENT VIEW shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout. Had to shift in to avoid the heels of NINE CIGARS which was carried wider near the 200m.

LIPSTICK LIES – Shifted out in the home straight, carrying NINE CIGARS wider. Apprentice A. Graham was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.


Race 6: OJI FIBRE SOLUTIONS BM50 HCP - 1380M

Prior to the running of this race, stewards interviewed trainer G Sitek in relation into a report that DEVINE FALLS hadn’t arrived on course by the prescribed time. After making inquiries into the matter, Stewards acting under the provisions of AR165(2) subsequently scratched DEVINE FALLS at 5.22pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered the following deductions to apply:

15 cents in the dollar for the win READYENTIME
19 cents in the dollar for place bets READYENTIME
14 cents in the dollar for place bets for THE BRUMBY
13 cents in the dollar for place bets for ENTERPRISE SUCCESS

At a subsequent inquiry, Stewards issued Trainer G. Sitek with two charges. Trainer Sitek was found guilty of the first charge under AR228(b) in that he did remove his runner DEVINE FALLS from the designated race day stabling area without seeking permission from the stewards. Trainer Sitek was fined $200. Trainer Sitek also pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of LR30(1)(b) in that he failed to present his runner DEVINE FALLS in the race day stalls by the prescribed time. Trainer Sitek was fined $300. Stewards ordered that a sample was to be collected from DEVINE FALLS for analysis.

ENTERPRISE SUCCESS – Shifted in on jumping, bumping with THE ANGELS KISS. Raced wide throughout.

DEVINE FALLS – Declared a late scratching at 5.22pm on order of the stewards.

MASTER DRUMER – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.

PLAYFUL KISS – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, crowding ANTHROPICA. When questioned regarding today’s performance, Jockey P. Hamblin stated that PLAYFUL KISS failed to handle the sand track conditions and could offer no further explanation regarding the performance. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer K. Miller advised stewards that believed that PLAYFUL KISS had come to the end of its prep and would now be sent for a spell.

ANTHROPICA – Jumped away awkwardly and shortly after the start was crowded by PLAYFUL KISS, which shifted out.

THE BRUMBY – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

AFRICAN ZULU – Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding today’s performance, Jockey K. Gates could offer no explanation regarding the gelding’s performance. Trainer A. Wilson was advised that AFFRICAN ZULU would be restricted to NON-TAB meetings until its competitiveness improves. Trainer A. Wilson was also advised that AFRICAN ZULU would be required to trial due to its poor performance prior to its next future race start. Trainer A. Wilson advised stewards that it would be her intentions to retire the gelding.

RAINBOW DREAMS – When questioned regarding today’s performance, Jockey A. Sewell could offer no explanation regarding the mare’s performance in today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

READYENTIME – Slow to begin.

THE ANGELS KISS – Bumped on jumping by ENTERPRISE SUCCESS which shifted out. Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
