QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT Bundaberg Race Club 27th of July 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – SandRAIL – True OFFICIALS Stewards – S Stehbens (Chair), S Larkins Race 1: VISY QTIS Maiden Plate 1090M POWERALONG – Raced wide throughout. SEPARATIST – Began awkward. Raced wide throughout. VITTHAL – Raced wide throughout. BOITUMELO – Hung in under pressure down the home straight. CHAHPINGAH – Slow to begin and raced wide throughout. LITTLE MISS BELLE – Laid in under pressure down the home straight. PLAYFUL PASSION – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. THE QUICKENING – Raced wide throughout. VADAMOON (NZ) – Hung in under pressure down the home straight. Race 2: CORTEVA & RIVULIS BENCHMARK 55 Hcp 1212M PRIMARY WITNESS – Raced wide throughout. ETHELDA – Broke down and fell near the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a fractured fetlock to the right foreleg. The mare was subsequently euthanised on humane grounds. Samples were collected for analysis. NINE CIGARS – Began awkwardly. OPAQUELY – Raced wide throughout. GOSSIAUX – Checked when avoiding a fallen runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. MUSSEL LINES – Checked and became unbalanced dislodging apprentice E Molloy. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Apprentice E Molloy and jockey K Gates were treated oncourse prior to being transported to Bundaberg Base Hospital for further assessment. Both riders were advised medical clearances inclusive of concussion testing are required prior to riding again. Race 3: NUFARM / INTEGRATED PACKAGING GROUP BENCHMARK 45 Hcp 850M Due to a significant delay after race 2 all races were delayed and run at the earliest convenience. MOLLOY – Trainer’s representative A Briskey reported that the gelding had bled from both nostrils post-race. Connections were advised of the provisions of AR79 and as such for a first bleeding attack the gelding is banned from racing for three months. BORNEES LAD – Began awkwardly. Jockey C Mclver reported that the gelding did not handle the track conditions and did not appreciate the weight impost of 62.5kg. BALEXIA – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout. THE STORM – Dale Smith was the approved late ridder replacement for Kelly Gates. LOUD ATTRACTION – Raced wide throughout. RASHEED – Jumped in at the start and bumped BALEXIA. Race 4: HAIFA LIGHTNING OPEN Hcp 850M COAT OF ARMS – Hung in under pressure down the home straight. JAMESATELLI – Stood flat footed and missed the start noticeably. MAMARAGAN – Jumped out at the start. AL PAL’S GAL – Raced wide throughout. Hung in on occasions throughout. BOOGIELU – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers at the request of jockey M Butler and was cleared to start. Jumped in at the start and raced wide throughout. AMPHAWA – Hung in under pressure down the home straight. Race 5: HIGGINS COATINGS BENCHMARK 50 Hcp 1380M INTROVERT – Slow into stride and raced wide throughout. AWESOME SPIRIT – Chris Taylor was the approved late rider replacement for Kelly Gates. Hung out under pressure down the home straight. THOUGHT CRIME (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. ASHIKO BAY – Began awkwardly. LATE NIGHT DEVIL – Raced wide throughout. EPAUVESCENT – Jumped in and crowded CANNY BOY for a few strides shortly after the start. READYENTIME – Slow into stride and raced wide throughout. CANNY BOY – Raced wide throughout. Race 6: LINDSAY AUSTRALIA LTD BUNDABERG GOLD CUP OPEN Hcp 1380M ELLA TE AMA – Contacted the running rail near 1000m and then raced tight to the inside of COYNES ROAD and as a result lost ground. Apprentice C Lowe advised that it was her intention to maintain a position forward in the field however her mount failed to handle the sand conditions and was unable to obtain a position forward and as a result of being checked after contacting the running rail did not appreciate the kick back. MOMACK – Jumped out at the start. STARSONIC – Jumped in at the start and raced wide throughout. WAITAKERE – Hampered at the start. Raced wide throughout. TAKE THE LEAD – Jockey C Mclver advised that he felt the gelding raced flat today due to dropping back noticeably in distance by comparison to its most recent starts. GENTLE PRINCE – Hampered at the start. Raced wide throughout. FROSTY BEAR – Slow to begin.
