GENERAL
As apprentice Jamie-Lee Devine was unable to claim any of her allowance in race 3 (VALENTINA EXPRESS) and race 5 (WE GIRLS) she was replaced by apprentice Shakira Bailey. Miss Devine was subsequently fined $100 under AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim. In assessing penalty, stewards were mindful of the riders’ recent good record, her guilty plea and recent personal circumstances.

POWERALONG – Apprentice T Orr advised that he was of the view that the gelding may be suited to further distances than that of today’s event.

DEEP MYSTIQUE – Slow to begin and then raced wide for the majority. Jockey C Rogers advised that despite being first up for six weeks the mare was disappointing, and the immediate racing proposition would be considered. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

GOLD REVOLUTION – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

MASALI RAFFA – Jockey A Sewell advised that he felt the gelding was not suited to today’s surface and would benefit from returning to grass tracks.
