QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BEDOURIE RACE CLUB INC 9th SEPTEMBER 2023 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Dirt RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – D MacklynStewards – G. Meek, H. Gillett (Cadet)Clerk of Scales – Stewards Judge – R. JensenVeterinarian – Dr D. McKenzieStarter – K. Morton Race 1: BROOKS PASTORAL / L G FINANCE CONSULTANTS Maiden Plate 1100m DISPUTE – Bumped with MR EVANS at the start. Jockey John Keating pleaded guilty to a charge under the terms of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100 metres, 1 more than permitted. Jockey Keating was issued with a reprimand. EXGAMES – Slow into stride. MR EVANS – Bumped with DISPUTE at the start. SHEZABLAST – Failed to handle the first turn and also the anti-clockwise way of racing as a result raced ungenerously throughout. Race 2: TOOWOOMBA TRUCK SPARES / PENGELLY TRUCKS Class B Handicap 1000m MISSILES ARMED – Began awkwardly as a result was slow into stride. DOUBLE OH SEVEN – Fractious prior to start as a result was slow into stride and continued to race wide throughout without cover. Race 3:GIBSON LIVESTOCK / ARRABURY PASTORAL COMPANY OPEN Handicap 1000m STOICAL – Began awkwardly. VUNIVALU – Began awkwardly and bumped by SOOPAT shortly after the start. SOLE HEIR – Stewards permitted Jockey Gary Geran to ride 2kg overweight as there was no other suitable rider available. Jockey Geran pleaded guilty to a charge under the terms of AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight, Jockey Geran was fined the sum of $200.00. Hung outwards around the 800 metre turn and continued to race wide for the remainder. I’M A LEGEND – Began awkwardly and raced 3 wide throughout. NO DEBT – Jumped outwards at the start and was slow into stride, was awkward around the first turn then raced wide until the home turn and was inclined to hang inwards in the home straight. CYCLONITE – Slow to begin. SOOPAT – Slipped at the start and was bumped by VUNIVALU shortly after the start. Race 4: MCINNES WILSON LAWYERS QTIS BM55 Handicap 1200m ALBION SQUARE – Began awkwardly.YE HELLA – Stewards questioned apprentice jockey Emma Lines in regard to the disappointing performance of YE HELLA, she reported that gelding had led to the home turn and tired over the concluding stages she also stated it had not started for 34 days and felt it was in need of the run today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. CAMAROSA – Jumped outwards at the start and forced MODERNA’S ARROW wider on the track. CAITLIN’S ANGEL – Declared a late scratching at 11:25am by stewards acting on veterinary advice after failing a pre-race veterinary inspection. Trainer Kym Healy was advised he must produce a veterinary certificate of soundness before racing again. MODERNA’S ARROW – Forced out wide shortly after the start by CAMAROSA Race 5: Simpson Desert Oasis / Napco QTIS BM55 Handicap 1200m LORD SMEDLEY – Showed no early speed and raced wide for the majority.ASHIKO BAY – Approaching the 900 metres had to check and shift outwards to avoid heels of LAYLAH’S WISH which shifted in when insufficiently clear. THE STONE MASON – Was forced outwards near the 900 metres then raced wide for the remainder. LAYLAH’S WISH – Began awkwardly and approaching the 900 metres shifted in when insufficiently clear of ASHIKO BAY resulting in ASHIKO BAY checking and shifting out. Apprentice Emma Lines pleaded guilty to a charge under the terms of AR131(a) for careless riding when shifting ground when not clear to do so. Stewards deemed the incident to be in the minor range and suspended her license to ride in races for seven days to commence on midnight Saturday 9th September until midnight 16th September 2023. SODBUSTER – Shortly after the start had to steady off the heels LADY MOFEED. Race 6: BRUCE AIR & ELECTRICAL BEDOURIE CUP OPEN Handicap 1600m DEEP BREATH – Raced wide throughout. TORBRECK – Raced wide in the early stages. LEGEND OF ZORRO – Raced wide throughout. PASS THE CARD – Jumped out at the start and dropped out from the 600 metres and finished the race well back. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. EQUAL BALANCE – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. MATHEMATICS – Declared a late scratching at 12:40pm due to no rider being available. RANGI TOA – Began awkwardly and the rider became unbalanced momentarily as a result, was very slow into stride and then raced wide throughout.TAIPAN TOMMY – Began awkwardly. Race 7: CITY COUNTRY REAL ESTATE / CAVA HYDRAULICS Class 6 Handicap 1300m SAMMY – Shifted out abruptly shortly after the start bumping heavily with HIGHGROUND. HIGHGROUND – Shortly after the start was bumped heavily by SAMMY who shifted out abruptly. WARRAH FLASH – Slow into stride and raced wide throughout. FLOREAT PICA – Slow into stride and showed no speed throughout.
