THUNDER ROCKER Became awkward at the heels of SOSTENIDO passing the 800m, had to be restrained and lost ground. J. Morris, the rider of SOSTENIDO, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that at that point he allowed his mount to shift out from behind MAKE A RULER when insufficiently clear of THUNDER ROCKER, causing interference to that runner. J. Morrisss licence to ride in races was suspended for 9 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 28 October and expire at midnight on Monday 6 November 2017.

ROYAL ATOM Bumped heavily on jumping.

REAL GANADOR Hampered on jumping. When questioned, M. Cahill stated that his mount travelled well until after passing the 600m and then when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and proved most disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had the thumps and was slightly heat stressed.

MONTRER DAME Hampered on jumping.

KIRINNS LAD When questioned regarding her actions after passing the 1100m and entering the back straight where she allowed her mount to shift away from the rail, which enabled ROYAL ATOM, which was following, to improve to her inside, apprentice T. Brooker stated that in the early stages her mount was inclined to shift out and got on the wrong leg and by the time she realised that ROYAL ATOM had improved to her inside she was unable to shift back towards the rail as that movement would have caused interference to that runner, and for this reason she remained in a one-wide position for the remainder of the race. Stewards noted her explanation.
